Chapter 10 Wind-Sand Puppets

The Desolate Era · 第十章 风煞傀儡

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The three powerful World Gods in the distance streaked across the sky like three meteors, swiftly flying over. Although they were millions of li away, they reached Ji Ning's vicinity in the span of a single breath.

"You've got guts," Aloyi said, looking at Ji Ning.

"You seem very confident." Fu Kai squinted, his eyes cold as he scrutinized Ji Ning. The Bone-Armored World God stood silently beside Aloyi, watching.

Ji Ning could tell at a glance that although these three were fast, now that his own speed had reached the level of a Daolord of Life and Death, he could easily shake them off even without using his Thunderlight Wings. Though the surrounding space was sealed, preventing teleportation, relying on his speed alone, Ji Ning could leave whenever he wanted and fight whomever he chose. The initiative was entirely in his hands.

Aloyi and Fu Kai had no idea that Ji Ning, having just become a World-level cultivator, already far surpassed them in speed. They were still brimming with confidence.

"Hand over the Eternal Divine Blood," Aloyi said. "We're willing to trade treasures for it."

Fu Kai also stared at Ji Ning.

This was the plan they had agreed upon: let Ji Ning voluntarily give up the Eternal Divine Blood. If they could obtain it without a fight, they were willing to part with some treasures. Though they had many treasures and feared no one below the Daolord level, they weren't absolutely certain they could kill Ji Ning.

After all, if Ji Ning was determined to flee, even Fu Kai and Aloyi only had partial confidence in stopping him.

Of course... if Ji Ning refused to hand it over, they would have no choice but to kill him.

"Willing to trade treasures for the Eternal Divine Blood?" Ji Ning swept his gaze over them. "Can you afford it?" Ji Ning couldn't be bothered to deny it; no one was a fool.

"Treasures worth tens of thousands of cubes in exchange for your Eternal Divine Blood—you should be satisfied," Fu Kai said with a frown.

"Hahaha... you're very generous," Ji Ning laughed.

"You're forcing our hand," Aloyi said, his killing intent growing stronger. They were both only World-level cultivators, and though they had many treasures, offering tens of thousands of cubes was already generous. Would they have to give up their Eternal weapons as well? Only a fool would reveal their trump cards.

"Lackeys of the Eternal Clan, spare me your nonsense," Ji Ning said coldly.

Fu Kai and Aloyi's expressions changed instantly.

"You're the lackey of the Eternal Clan!" Aloyi roared angrily.

"Does wanting the Eternal Divine Blood make one a member of the Eternal Clan?" Fu Kai sneered. "Even the spirit of the Ten Thousand Gods Temple didn't dare call us that. You've got some nerve, slandering us so casually."

They would never admit it.

True members of the Eternal Clan were at least Daolords of Life and Death, their auras completely different from ordinary Daolords, recognizable at a glance. But the descendants of the Eternal Clan, before awakening, were just like normal cultivators—impossible to distinguish, with no special traits.

Moreover, the Eternal Clan and the Dao Alliance were mortal enemies. Any underling of the Eternal Clan who dared appear within the Dao Alliance's territory, once identified, would be surrounded and attacked. All cultivators were entitled to kill them.

Ten Thousand Gods Daolord had deeply hated the Eternal Clan. If he had been certain that Aloyi and Fu Kai were underlings of the Eternal Clan, the Golden-Eyed Puppets of the Ten Thousand Gods Temple would have struck them down directly. But because they weren't sure, they had to follow the instructions Ten Thousand Gods Daolord left before his death.

"We are merely coerced into obtaining the Eternal Divine Blood," Aloyi said coldly. "Hand it over quickly, or you will die today."

"Oh? Die today?" A sword appeared in Ji Ning's hand—a sharp blade like frozen ice. It was one of a set of Dao weapons he had discovered when he plundered the Stone Forest of its many Dao weapons.

This set of Dao weapons consisted of six pieces, all top-grade Dao weapons, extremely sharp, suited for the 'Water Dao.' The swords were like凝结的寒冰. Ji Ning casually named them 'Iceheart Swords.'

The six Iceheart Swords, Ji Ning guessed, had once belonged to some World God. Among the Dao weapons he had found, they were the most convenient to use. After all, not everyone was worthy of making Ji Ning draw his Eternal weapon. But even so, Ji Ning wasn't arrogant enough to face Aloyi and Fu Kai bare-handed.

Aloyi and Fu Kai's expressions turned icy.

"Kill!" Aloyi's eyes flashed with ferocity. Whoosh! Eighteen golden puppets appeared out of nowhere, each exuding a powerful aura.

"Kill him," Aloyi commanded.

"Kill."

"Kill."

The eighteen golden puppets transformed into a massive black-and-white whirlwind, moving with incredible speed to surround and attack Ji Ning. The enormous black-and-white whirlwind stirred up celestial phenomena.

...

"Eighteen of them?" Ji Ning was somewhat surprised. On the Millstone of Life and Death, Aloyi had only produced nine. It seemed that Aloyi had been restricted by the rules then. These eighteen puppets, nine yin and nine yang, combined to greatly disturb the surrounding space. Individually, each puppet had strength equivalent to a peak World God. When working together in formation, each became even stronger, not far from a supreme World God.

Eighteen of them working together could easily kill a supreme World God!

"This set of Wind-Sand Puppets bestowed by my father is nearly invincible below the Daolord level. Even with my recent breakthrough, I find them quite challenging," Aloyi thought with absolute confidence.

"Watch out!" Fu Kai shouted.

"What?!" Aloyi's face changed drastically.

A white figure appeared, manifesting six arms, each holding an Iceheart Sword. He drifted out from the encirclement of the eighteen golden puppets and charged straight at Aloyi, who was closest. Two golden puppets tumbled backward.

Ji Ning's eyes blazed with a fearsome sword intent, his killing aura chilling.

Aloyi, wielding two huge curved blades, said grimly, "Such exquisite swordsmanship." He had to admit that in terms of finesse and agility, his blade arts were inferior to Ji Ning's swordsmanship. But that was normal; swords were naturally agile, while blade arts were domineering and fierce—two different paths.

His current blade arts had elevated him beyond the level of a supreme World God. Aloyi was fully confident.

"Die!" As Ji Ning charged out, Aloyi immediately slashed out two streaks of blade light.

"Whoosh..." "Whoosh..."

Two intersecting bloody ribbons appeared in the sky, spanning tens of thousands of zhang, carrying a heart-stopping aura as they slashed toward Ji Ning.

"Mind-Heart Style." A black hole vortex appeared in the sky, drawing in the two terrifying bloody blade-light ribbons, which were completely torn apart by the vortex.

Ji Ning's power was too great. Though his swordsmanship was inferior to Aloyi's blade arts, and he only wielded Dao weapons while his opponent used Eternal weapons, Ji Ning's strength, comparable to a Daolord of Life and Death, allowed his 'Mind-Heart Style' to forcefully block the attack.

Taking advantage of the vortex's pull, Ji Ning shot to the side, charging toward the Bone-Armored World God, who was very close to Aloyi.

"Watch out!" Aloyi's expression changed.

Although Ji Ning had been monstrous as a Ancestral God, becoming this strong right after reaching the World level exceeded Aloyi's imagination. Was reaching the level beyond supreme World God so easy? But now it seemed that this monstrous Ancestral God, upon breaking through, was already on par with him in strength.

In their plan, the Bone-Armored World God had some use. But now that Ji Ning was this strong, the Bone-Armored World God was essentially useless. Yet everything happened too fast; the Bone-Armored World God had nowhere to hide. Ji Ning's speed far surpassed his.

"No!" The Bone-Armored World God panicked.

"Pfft!" A flash of sword light crossed space in an instant, piercing through the Bone-Armored World God's brow. Ji Ning's divine sword slashed downward, splitting the Bone-Armored World God in two. Even so, he wasn't dead yet.

"Bind." A rope appeared out of nowhere, wrapping around the Bone-Armored World God.

Ji Ning was slightly surprised. "He doesn't even have a Dao-level armor robe, and his protective divine ability seems mediocre." He hadn't expected to pierce through the opponent's divine body with one strike. If the Bone-Armored World God had worn a Dao-level armor robe and had a strong protective divine ability, even Ji Ning couldn't have pierced his body.

In reality, Aloyi had many servants, and the Bone-Armored World God was one of the weaker ones, so naturally he had fewer good treasures.

"Damn it," Aloyi said angrily. Although this was one of his weaker servants, he was now his only remaining servant.

...
