Chapter 106: The Previous Agreement

Destiny's Dominion · 第一零六章 前约

After hearing the final offer from the Schlova Group, Li Mochen still felt a bit pained and conflicted. With the team left by Li Chunchu, his fear of Antonio had greatly diminished. He asked himself that even in a direct confrontation, he would ultimately emerge victorious.

Yet after a brief moment of contemplation, he decided to let go.

Wenjian Taoran was indeed stingy and greedy, but what he was most renowned for in the Yuanqiong Realm was his cunning and strategy. He took what he should take and gave up what he should give up, never hesitating over such matters.

Perhaps he was indeed capable of winning the war against Antonio, but it would inevitably come at a heavy cost. During the conflict, how many casualties would they suffer? Especially the Sunrise Company, where apart from Kadilen Jebsen, a ninth-level magic professional, the rest of the employees were ordinary people.

This would be his greatest weakness in the war. To put so many people in danger for the sake of a few hundred thousand gold shields was not the act of a wise man.

Li Mochen still needed time to grow, until he was confident he could deal with an enemy like Antonio without paying too high a price.

After the two conversations ended, Li Mochen casually tossed the brick-like phone to Qi Tai: "Hold onto it for me during the day. If anyone calls me, let me know at school as soon as possible."

He thought he couldn't very well bring this thing to school, could he? It was somewhat inconvenient.

The pistol was different; that thing maintained Li Mochen's sense of security. And if he felt insecure, it would inevitably lead to further loss of control over his demonic thoughts.

So, to him, this thing seemed no different from a landline phone?

When he arrived at school, Li Mochen happened to run into William, who was coming out of the gymnasium. The latter looked at him with a rather strange expression, occasionally turning his head to glance at him.

In fact, at this moment, William was not the only one in the school doing this. Many people were doing the same, secretly peeping with curiosity.

Li Mochen knew the reason; it was mostly due to the marketing strategy of the Nathan Sports Group starting to take effect.

Earlier, when he called the law firm, Mike had mentioned to him that the story of his advancing to the fourth round without a fight had appeared on major TV stations and in newspapers.

But when William turned his head for the seventh time, Li Mochen couldn't take it anymore: "Had your fill of looking, William? I don't have an extra ear or a second mouth."

"But you're famous, and not just in Georgia, but across the country."

William said with envy: "Several TV stations have talked about you these past two days, even the American Broadcasting Company. At dinner last night, my family mentioned you. Lucky Andrew, fortunate Andrew, they said you must be the chosen one of the goddess of luck."

"I don't think so. It's a good thing for those people that they didn't run into me."

Li Mochen shook his head disapprovingly: "Come on, William! If you enter NMOSA in the future, you'll get attention sooner or later."

"I have some confidence in that, but if you could lend me a tenth of your luck, I'd definitely become a professional cold weapon fighter."

William shrugged, then stopped at the classroom door: "Amo, have you noticed? Richard doesn't seem to be here today?"

Li Mochen also noticed that the grade advisor, who usually patrolled like a lion surveying his territory in the morning, was nowhere to be seen today. He didn't think much of it, only guessing that Mr. Richard might have been disciplined by the school.

"He should have been suspended, right? With so many people watching, it felt like a serious matter."

"Bullshit!"

William Jacques clearly thought the same. He was indignant on Richard's behalf, fuming, "He shouldn't have bothered with that Samson back then—he's a pile of shit. His family barely scraped together that money, and he just squandered it. Damn it, that guy has three younger sisters. Richard should have ignored him and let him rot. People like us, if we don't have the determination to crawl out of the mire, we'll never make it."

Li Mochen shook his head slightly, also worried that Richard might be dismissed by the school. If that happened, not only would the students lose a good teacher and friend, but Lyndon Academy would also lose an excellent staff member. Yet he was truly helpless in this matter and could only wait and see.

But by noon, Li Mochen grew somewhat anxious, because he didn't see any notice from the school board regarding Richard's punishment on the bulletin board.

At that moment, a faint sense of unease also stirred in his mind.

Was it an illusion? Too many demonic thoughts after reaching Level Five? What could happen to Richard, a teacher who kept to himself?

Li Mochen shook his head, temporarily setting aside this absurd notion, and focused his attention on Angela Medici's lecture.

Since he had revealed his identity last time, Angela had been very close to him.

But if one phrase could describe their relationship, it was a one-sided openness. During the breaks between two classes, Angela talked to him about everything, sometimes even touching on private topics between women, as well as gossip about the great families of the Old and New Continents.

Li Mochen wasn't interested at all; what he most hoped for was that Angela would pull out three to five million gold shields and knock him out with them. But contrary to his wishes, Angela showed no other gesture beyond being more affectionate toward him.

However, a few days later, he no longer had that thought. Because Angela's lessons had delved deeper, and it seemed she no longer held back any of her occult knowledge from him. Throughout the lectures, she spoke without reservation, holding nothing back. This greatly helped him, with value far exceeding two or three million gold shields.

But today, just as the first class began, the door to the small meeting room was pushed open.

"Louise?"

Angela turned to look at the girl at the door, a puzzled expression on her face: "Louise, what is it? We're in class."

"I'm looking for Andre."

Louise Lyndon walked directly up to Li Mochen: "Remember our agreement from before, classmate Andre?"

"Agreement?"

Li Mochen raised an eyebrow and stood up from his seat: "You mean the one from a week ago? My promise still stands."

"What kind of agreement?"

Angela grew curious; she poked her friend's shoulder: "You've piqued my interest, Louise."

"A week ago, classmate Andre agreed that if I could withstand one strike from him, he would give up his scholarship."

Louise explained: "But at that time, because of your situation, we couldn't continue."

She had originally not wanted to bring this up to Li Mochen in Angela's presence. But now the atmosphere in the club was growing increasingly hostile, and the pressure from the coaches was mounting, so she had no choice.
