Chapter 129: Cookies

Destiny's Dominion · 第一二九章 曲奇

The murmurs around him were less because Li Mochen's hearing was exceptionally sharp and more because these people were deliberately speaking loud enough for him to hear. Their voices were especially loud, making it impossible to ignore even if one wanted to.

Li Mochen, however, paid no attention to it. Even the original owner of this body showed no reaction this time. Why care about the opinions of a bunch of ordinary mortals?

But when he arrived at Angela's classroom, he found a blonde girl inside.

It was Lina·Eldridge. This blonde bombshell seemed to have finally recovered from her injuries, looking rosy-cheeked and full of energy.

Yet, for some reason, ever since Li Mochen entered the classroom, Lina·Eldridge had been staring at him with burning eyes, her gaze unfriendly and tinged with wariness.

Angela herself didn't notice. She first gave Li Mochen a lesson, then giggled and pulled out a cookie box.

“Want some? Chocolate cookies, I made them myself. I've been learning to make pastries lately.”

Under her expectant gaze, Li Mochen had no choice but to take one and put it in his mouth.

Too sweet?

It seemed to be made with special spiritual plants that could enhance cultivation to some extent. But the flavor of the spiritual plants hadn't been properly handled, so the overall taste was strange.

Just as Li Mochen was about to tell the truth, he noticed the blonde girl's expression change. Her pale golden eyes seemed ready to spit fire.

So Li Mochen swallowed the words on the tip of his tongue and took another cookie, stuffing it into his mouth.

“Tastes great, very good. But to be honest, I prefer salty snacks, especially nuts.”

In terms of taste, he and the original owner were quite aligned.

“Salty pastries? With nuts?”

Angela looked thoughtful. “Got it. I'll try making some tomorrow.”

Li Mochen felt that Lina·Eldridge's gaze was about to kill him on the spot. He couldn't help but turn to look at her, puzzled. What was wrong with this girl? He had already been considerate enough not to say anything that would discourage Angela.

The ancients were right: only women and petty people are hard to deal with!

What made Li Mochen even more frustrated was that during the next lesson, under Angela's expectant gaze, he had to stuff more than a dozen chocolate cookies into his mouth.

After the lesson ended, Angela even packed the leftovers for him to take home.

“Who actually made these chocolate cookies?”

In the elevator of Unicorn Apartments, William chewed on a cookie, and his thick black eyebrows knitted together.

“Emmm, how should I put it? It's not that it's bad, but the taste is really weird.”

“I didn't ask you to eat them.”

Li Mochen said as he stuffed the last cookie from the bag into his mouth, even though his own brows were furrowed.

“It's Angela, right? I can tell that little beauty has a thing for you. I suggest you go after her. She's a Medici, even if just a collateral branch, she could save you years of struggle.”

No sooner had William finished speaking than the elevator doors opened. When Li Mochen unlocked the front door with his fingerprint, William let out an 'ow' like a wolf howl.

“Shit! Shit! It's real—890 square meters of luxury, plus an extra 300 square meters, right? Now I believe Nason Group gave you a top-tier contract. Look at this decor, so lavish, even better than a hotel. This is the big house of my dreams. I've got to live in a place like this someday. Wow, I love this floor-to-ceiling window. From here, Linden Academy looks like a model. What an amazing view.”

Li Mochen let William run wild in the living room until he calmed down, then gave him a tour of the mansion.

Master bedroom, dining room, guest room, bathroom, meditation room, alchemy room, gym, combat practice room, magic practice room, and study—

Almost every room they opened made William exclaim in awe. Only when they entered the study did he focus not on the room but on the piles of A4 paper on the desk.

“You're drawing?”

William flipped through them roughly, then looked surprised. “Are you drawing a comic? There are over eighty pages already.”

“I'm learning. But—”

Li Mochen shrugged. “My paneling isn't good yet, and I still retain some habits from traditional Chinese painting when drawing characters, which looks weird. So these are just drafts.”

Mainly because he hadn't been able to find much time to practice. Often, in a whole week, he only spent a few dozen minutes on it.

But once he fully adapted to the modern comic style, his speed should be quite fast—seven or eight pages an hour would be no problem.

Li Mochen was even considering finding someone to 'ghostwrite' for him. If he really couldn't spare the time to practice, he would find a way to bind some skilled undead artists.

“I can see that. The characters do look strange, very awkward.”

William raised an eyebrow and continued flipping. “What's the story about? Can you tell me? Is it also a superhero comic?”

“I guess it's more of an inspirational realistic type?”

Li Mochen said in an uncertain tone. “It mainly tells the story of a mixed-blood with ordinary cultivation talent, looked down upon and even bullied, who through his own efforts gradually becomes a powerful magic-energy professional. He'll be a star in fighting competitions and a legend. Of course, there's love, friendship, and some adventures along the way.”

William was silent for a long time, absorbed in reading. Only after finishing all eighty-plus pages did he look up, still wanting more.

“A-Mo, this story feels like it's about me. You've got me itching to see what happens next. Did the protagonist successfully break through to Level 5? That group led by Kager, they'll definitely get beaten down by him, right?”

“I don't want to spoil it.”

Li Mochen gestured for William to head out and closed the study door. “What do you think? Is it readable? My idea is, instead of letting readers watch someone else become a hero step by step, let them immerse themselves and follow the protagonist to become strong.”

“Interesting. There have been comics like this before, but no one has written it as detailed as you, giving a very realistic feel. The plot is good too; it's got me hooked.”

William said thoughtfully, “I don't know much about paneling, but I think if you improve your drawing skills a bit, it could be a hit when published. I know my classmates—who doesn't want to become a powerful magic-energy professional? Especially those in the public classes. They pretend not to care about grades or magic energy, but deep down, they envy the elite classes and us in the fighting club.”

Li Mochen thought that was exactly what he wanted. With 6.4 billion people in all of America, if even one in ten thousand read his comic, he could reap a fortune beyond ordinary imagination.

For now, this might be a more profitable and promising venture than the Sunrise Company's store plan.

“Hope it turns out as you say.”

Li Mochen finally led William to his weapon collection room. “Sorry, there are only two swords here. But you can pick any armor you like. After you put it on, we'll go practice.”

“Are you serious?”

William was startled, his expression quite conflicted.
