Chapter 206: Inquiry

Destiny's Dominion · 第二零六章 问询

……

"Kid, you were the one who hit my Craig Community Bank, weren't you?"

Antonio's voice was hoarse and low, brimming with murderous intent.

Li Mochen was not at all surprised. If Antonio still hadn't figured out who had leveled the Craig Community Bank by now, then this man wouldn't have been able to stand firm in Atlanta for over a decade.

But of course, he wasn't foolish enough to admit it over the phone: "I don't know what you're talking about, Mr. Antonio. Craig Community Bank? The one that was just robbed? I saw it on TV, it's being reported now. But what does that have to do with me? As you said to me before, in America, bank robbery is a serious crime. You can't tarnish a gentleman's reputation. EMM~ Speaking of which, when will your Blood Hand gang release my cousin?"

"Your cousin? Sorry, I haven't heard of her."

Antonio was equally evasive on that matter, but then his voice turned cold and harsh: "I know it was you, you bastard. I admit, this time I underestimated you. But Andre, you don't think you can take my money and walk away scot-free, do you?"

"I never thought that, Antonio."

Li Mochen's lips curled in a cold sneer: "I told you before, didn't I? You're digging your own grave. I gave you a chance."

"Ha! Giving me a chance? Since when does a brat like you get to give Antonio a chance?"

Antonio was laughing, but his voice carried a brittle, icy edge: "Listen to me, Andre. Do you know what you're doing? You think the Nathan Sports Group is protecting you, so you can do whatever you want, huh? AH? You think I can't touch you, you bastard?"

"Are such threats really meaningful?"

Li Mochen let out a light laugh: "I know what I'm doing, and I know the consequences. Blood Hand gang, Dragon Witch Cult, right? If you think you can do something to me, then come on. I'm waiting, Antonio. And watch your mouth, Antonio. It makes you look desperate. You should understand, all of this started with you. Antonio, you chose war, so I'm giving you war, aren't I?"

He heard silence on the line, then said calmly: "If there's nothing else, I'll hang up. We'll talk another time."

Sampson also gathered up the pictures and documents from the table: "I should leave too. I'm sorry, BOSS. As your deputy butler, I may not be able to fulfill my duties for a while."

"That's fine, but Sampson, are you sure you've grasped the key points?"

"Of course! I think BOSS's goals are twofold: first, to inflict casualties; second, during the election season, to apply continuous pressure on the opponent through harassment, right?"

Sampson's lips curled slightly: "I will formulate a detailed action plan based on your strategy, BOSS. This is a promise from a meritorious commander of the Red Scorpion Force. I guarantee that within a day, you will see results."

"I have 100% trust in your tactical abilities. But beyond that, I also hope you can give proper attention to the Rising Sun Company. Zhang Wei is quite capable, but our defense force totals just over a hundred men. Even a clever housewife can't cook without rice. If he encounters a situation he can't handle, I'll need you to lend a hand. EMM~ As for intelligence, I'll have Jeremy Burt provide it to you. If I have any orders, I'll have Li Tailai relay them to you."

Li Tailai, of course, couldn't possibly organize a decent intelligence network in just a few days after returning to America. For now, Li Mochen could only rely on the Nathan Sports Group's intelligence department and Jeremy Burt, a well-connected local insider.

As for why Li Tailai would relay orders, it was because Li Mochen knew that from this moment on, Antonio's attention on him would increase several notches. During the war, this Unicorn Apartment would surely be watched closely by Blood Hand operatives, and his phone might even be under 24-hour surveillance.

So Li Mochen planned to use his secondary body in the neighboring building to convey orders to Sampson Brute and the others.

"That's all. You can leave through the garage. I'll have Nathan Group people take you; get off somewhere else in their car. Remember, Sampson! Personnel safety is the top priority. Don't take unnecessary risks. A great Eastern sage once said something I find very true: 'If you hold onto land and lose people, both land and people are lost; if you hold onto people and lose land, both people and land are preserved.' I only have you all; don't sacrifice yourselves in vain. Also, try not to harm innocents. Matters of magic-energy professionals shouldn't involve ordinary people, right?"

Then, half an hour after Sampson Brute left, Li Mochen finished his dragon-vein fitness exercises and had just returned to the training room to begin internal observation when he heard the doorbell downstairs.

Chu Siguo, who had resumed his duty, went to open the door, but the visitor required Li Mochen to come out and receive them personally.

It was Edmund Bederman, the special agent in charge of the FBI's Atlanta City Security Group, and Colin Damon, the head of the East District Police Department's Major Crimes Unit.

Li Mochen walked down the stairs with a look of surprise: "Gentlemen, you don't seem like you're here to visit a friend?"

"I've been wanting to visit for a while; this is just a convenient opportunity."

Colin Damon's face was stern, his tone somewhat cold: "Mr. Wiltonstein, I'm here about today's robbery at the Craig Community Bank in the eastern suburbs. I have some questions for you."

Li Mochen frowned deeply: "I don't understand. What does this have to do with me? I want to know, is this an interrogation or an assistance in an investigation? If so, I'll need my lawyer present. Guo, call Harvey Specter or one of his colleagues to come as soon as possible. Also, are you two handling this jointly?"

"No, we just happened to run into each other."

Supervisor Edmund Bederman responded with a smile: "There's no need to be so tense, Mr. Wiltonstein. We're just here for an informal chat to get a sense of things. This isn't an interrogation or an assistance in an investigation. You can think of it as a conversation between friends."

Li Mochen said nothing, just smiled and poured two glasses of red wine for them. He didn't believe this guy for a second. In America, when faced with such a situation, having a lawyer present was always the right move.

The Pearson-Darby-Specter law firm responded quickly. Just two minutes later, Mike Ross walked in.

Li Mochen shot him a surprised look, and the latter shrugged: "Thanks to you, the firm gave me a rental subsidy to move into Unicorn Apartment. They think it'll make it easier to serve you."

Then he looked at the two on the sofa opposite: "Mr. Bederman and Mr. Damon, right? You can ask your questions. I hope you won't ask any leading questions, OK? And Mr. Wiltonstein, if I interrupt you, please stop speaking immediately."

Edmund Bederman looked resigned: "I'd like to know, Mr. Wiltonstein, did you carry out the Craig Community Bank robbery?"

Mike Ross frowned deeply, but before he could speak, Li Mochen pressed his hand down: "Your question is strange, Mr. Bederman. As you can see, I'm just a 10th-grade student, an orphan, and I've only recently gained a bit of fame. What could I do, Mr. Bederman? Ruin my own future, take people to rob a bank with guns? What reason would I have to do that?"
