Chapter 67: Resolution
Destiny's Dominion · 第六十七章 解决
Li Mochen and his group soon arrived at a relatively hidden open space in that alley. At this moment, some people had even transported 'tools' for them, including baseball bats, hockey sticks, and steel pipes. Eight black teenagers each held one, surrounding Li Mochen.
Li Mochen focused his gaze on the surroundings and found that these people had chosen their spot well. The four sides were high walls, blocking almost all angles of observation, and the place was sufficiently secluded.
At that moment, with a thought from him, a thin layer of ice quietly covered the four walls.
According to the knowledge he had acquired, this could block detection by infrared thermal imagers.
But around Li Mochen, those fierce-looking fellows noticed nothing of the slight change.
“You know, boy, you should be grateful to your very loyal brother William. On Thursday, that guy actually charged straight into our hip-hop club and threatened our leader. He said if we did anything to you, he wouldn't let us off. He's very manly, isn't he? Daring to provoke Hancock, asking for death.”
“That guy is the really lucky one, with Miss Louise protecting him. We can't touch him now, so we have to take it out on you, kid. That's your misfortune.”
“Originally we only planned to break one of your hands, but this time Hancock said that if we don't break your arms and legs, none of us will get any goods from him tonight.”
Hearing this, Li Mochen was slightly surprised. He hadn't expected that the injury on William Jacques' face last Friday might have a hidden story.
These people spoke unclearly, and he couldn't figure out what was going on for now. But it didn't matter; he would understand later.
“Can't you guys do anything but yap with your dog mouths?”
This remark clearly angered the few present. But that was exactly what Li Mochen wanted; whether or not there were witnesses, he wouldn't strike first.
“Hey! I say, fellow students, whatever you want to do, please hurry up, OK? I'm in a rush now, no time for chit-chat with you.”
“Fuck, fuck you!”
One of them was breathing so heavily it was clearly audible: “Looks like Oleck was right; your shitty brain really needs to be scrubbed in a toilet bowl!”
But some preferred action over words. Two clubs swung at Li Mochen from front and back. However, they didn't see Li Mochen writhing in pain; they only heard a 'thump'. Two figures flew sideways, crashing into the wall in a spread-eagle position, then slowly slid down. The backs of their heads left two blood streaks on the wall, eyes closed, faces purple—they had both fainted.
“Why?”
“Fuck—”
The remaining six were all bewildered, looking at Li Mochen, then at their two unconscious companions, their eyes full of confusion.
Li Mochen, holding a baseball bat he had snatched, twirled it lightly.
“Gentlemen, I don't know if I'm lucky now, but I think you must be unlucky. I'm afraid I have to apologize to you too; my temper is really bad at the moment.”
‘Thump’!
Another dull sound. This time, the person on the left knelt directly on the ground. His right leg was bent at an unnatural angle, and although he opened his mouth, he couldn't scream. The immense pain had rendered him speechless.
“You son of a bitch! Fuck you!”
The teenager with the nose ring was thoroughly enraged. Without any fear, he charged forward fiercely and swung his club at Li Mochen's head.
But his hockey stick hadn't even descended when it suddenly flew away. His entire body, as if hit by a speeding car, slammed against the wall behind him. His legs twisted unnaturally, and as his body slid down and his feet touched the ground, he let out a scream like a stuck pig.
This horrific scene turned the remaining four pale with terror. Without any hesitation, they frantically tried to run away.
But none were faster than Li Mochen. Ten seconds later, all four were knocked down one by one.
Li Mochen had no sympathy for these guys. He had already learned that they were scum who sold drugs among students and tricked female classmates into prostitution.
Although under American law, these guys were still minors protected by the Juvenile Protection Act, and could be saved and forgiven, in his view from the Primordial Dome Realm, they deserved to die.
After knocking them all down, Li Mochen grabbed one by the collar.
“Can you tell me? What happened on Thursday? I mean, about my good friend William Jacques.”
The black teenager with a twisted face hesitated briefly, then submitted under Li Mochen's sharp, knife-like gaze: “That day William burst into the hip-hop club looking for Hancock. He thought you were missing. Then—”
“He got beaten, right?”
Instead of anger, Li Mochen smiled, because a warmth was gathering in his chest.
“Then I suppose his injuries were quite serious?”
The red-haired black teenager didn't know how to answer. But then the sharp pain in his leg made him scream again—Li Mochen had pinched his wound with a faint smile.
“I want to hear the truth, buddy. You'll tell me, won't you?”
“Yes, yes!”
The teenager was almost in tears: “When he was carried out, both legs and his right arm were broken. But the next day when he came to school, he was fine. I don't know why; I think it was Louise—”
Li Mochen had no interest in listening further. He let go: “Then please tell your leader, that Hancock, that what he did to William, I will do to him.”
After saying this, Li Mochen tidied up the scene, erasing as much evidence against him as possible, then slowly left. When he walked out of the alley, Mike Ross was already waiting at the entrance.
“You didn't do anything to them, did you?”
Mike looked worriedly into the alley: “If it's too much, you might get into trouble. Excessive self-defense and assault are against the law. They'll sue you for a hefty sum. If their lawyer is strong enough, you'll be in trouble, Andre.”
He wasn't worried about Li Mochen; he already knew the guy beside him was actually a terrifying beast.
Li Mochen, completely unconcerned, walked to the nearby public phone booth and called the local police station. He didn't call the hospital or 911 because he wanted those guys to suffer a bit longer.
Only then did he answer Mike's question: “I broke almost all their legs, but I left no evidence. The weapons were theirs, no witnesses, no fingerprints, and I even cleaned up the footprints. Also, from now on you can call me Amor. I prefer that.”
“Alright, Amor. But many people saw you go in with them, and you made the call.”
Mike Ross was amused and exasperated: “It's not about fingerprints or evidence; you can't shake off the connection. Honestly, I really don't understand your logic. Last time it was self-defense, but you insisted on destroying the body. This time you're actively walking into trouble.”
“The thing is, I don't want my enemies to gauge my true strength from that guy's corpse. Also, last time was murder, this time is injury—different nature, different scale of trouble. If I were suspected of murder, whether self-defense or not, I might not be able to participate in the upcoming MOS individual competition, right? To be honest, back then I couldn't even afford bail. That was very important to me, boy.”
Li Mochen laughed: “I know I can't completely shake off the connection, but couldn't it have been someone else? Like Bloodfang or Black Iron Knight?”
“Huh? What's that?” Mike was confused.
“The latest comic book heroes. Haven't you seen them? I mean those vigilante heroes. Otherwise, Black Prison Skull could work too; they're at war, aren't they?”
Li Mochen glanced sideways at Mike Ross: “Do you think the jury would side with me, an orphaned student with good grades and character, or sympathize with a bunch of drug-dealing trash? They came to me, didn't they?”
“I think I get your point.”
Mike had caught on: “If you're really prosecuted, I'll use that defense strategy. Also, if the police come to you, keep silent and wait for me to bail you out, got it?”
Li Mochen was about to refuse, but then he remembered the over ten thousand gold shields in his pocket.
So he could still afford the fees of the person beside him, and the professional competence of Pearson-Darby-Specter Law Firm was beyond doubt.
