Chapter 1320: Settling In

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第1320章 安顿

Zhang Tao really hadn't expected things to blow up this big.

Originally, he thought that after he handed the materials to Sean Parker, the reports in the US would make the South Korean authorities take the matter seriously and quickly launch an investigation.

But he never imagined it would turn into a massive protest march.

Zhang Tao kept up with the situation in South Korea every day, and the more he learned, the more his heart raced.

Zhang Tao wasn't stupid; he understood that under the current circumstances, if his identity were exposed, there would be trouble.

So, he took the initiative to approach Zhao Fusheng.

Zhao Fusheng looked at Zhang Tao, gave a faint smile, and said lightly, "What, having regrets?"

Zhang Tao smiled bitterly. "It's not regret. To be honest, I'm certainly willing to seek justice for those children. But now that it's turned into this, do you think a small fry like me has the guts to bear the consequences?"

This was his honest opinion. The matter had now spiraled beyond his control. Everyone has their own psychological limits; beyond that, they can't handle it.

And now, Zhang Tao knew clearly that he was afraid.

Zhao Fusheng nodded. Having such awareness showed that Zhang Tao hadn't lost his mind over this.

It's good for a person to have a sense of justice, but more importantly, they need to know the limits of their own abilities.

Looking at Zhang Tao, Zhao Fusheng slowly said, "There are many principles in this world. What I know is that the human heart is the hardest thing to fathom—that's beyond doubt. And I also know that if you make the first concession on matters of principle, even if it's just a tiny bit, then all kinds of people or things will appear around you, forcing you to retreat again and again. And when you find you have no ground left to retreat, your life will become a mess, even your life will change. And at that time, those who pushed you back won't care what you did before; they'll just swallow you whole, bones and all, and then point at your tombstone and say, 'Idiot!'"

Zhang Tao remained silent.

Zhao Fusheng's words seemed to make him understand something.

After a long while, Zhang Tao looked up at Zhao Fusheng. "Chairman Zhao, I think I understand what you mean."

Zhao Fusheng smiled. "Good that you understand. Actually, whether it's you or me, we're just ordinary people. We do what we think is right at the right time and stick to the righteousness in our hearts. Understand?"

After all, he was a decent young man. Zhao Fusheng didn't want him to be under too much pressure because of this, and end up ruining himself—that wouldn't be worth it.

Zhang Tao nodded gratefully. In his view, Zhao Fusheng had no need to consider his feelings; he could have even avoided meeting him. But this big shot hadn't refused him—truly a good person.

Unaware that he had unintentionally boosted his goodwill, Zhao Fusheng glanced at Zhang Tao and said, "If you're willing, I hope you can go back to South Korea and work for me."

"South Korea?"

Zhang Tao was startled, somewhat surprised. "You mean, let me go to the Future Group's South Korean branch?"

He really hadn't expected Zhao Fusheng to extend an olive branch at this moment.

Zhao Fusheng smiled and nodded. "Yes, I think that although you're young, you're very suitable to work at Future Group."

Faced with such an offer, Zhang Tao knew he couldn't refuse.

Whether in terms of treatment or character, he knew he would definitely accept Zhao Fusheng's invitation.

With that thought, Zhang Tao nodded firmly.

Zhao Fusheng chuckled lightly and said no more.

After sending Zhang Tao to report at Future Group's headquarters, Zhao Fusheng called Zheng Yao and asked her to have HR receive Zhang Tao. Hanging up, Zhao Fusheng frowned, realizing that he needed a chief steward by his side.

This was normal. Before, with Zhang Qian around, whatever he delegated would be handled properly. But now that Zhang Qian was in charge of the security company, Zhao Fusheng suddenly found that he had to handle many things himself.

To the point that recruiting someone like Zhang Tao required him to call Zheng Yao to arrange it.

Thinking about it, Zhao Fusheng considered whether he should hire an assistant to the chairman.

Even if he couldn't enjoy the blissful life of having a secretary for everything, at least having someone to order around would keep him from being flustered.

As for Hu Donghai and the others, Zhao Fusheng never thought of using them for such tasks.

Not to mention that they were recruited by Zhang Qian, but just based on the closeness of their relationship, Zhao Fusheng couldn't easily make them his secretaries.

More importantly, these people were different from Zhang Qian. Zhang Qian at least had some education and, after years by his side, could handle things independently.

As for Hu Donghai and the rest, aside from fighting and killing, they only had brute strength.

With that thought, Zhao Fusheng rubbed his chin, considering whether to recruit his chairman's assistant externally or select from within the company.

The difference between the two was enormous.

For example, if he recruited a secretary externally, he would first need to list conditions and requirements, specifying what kind of person he needed, so HR could formally announce the recruitment.

If he selected from within the company, it would be much simpler. He just needed to tell them what kind of person he wanted, and HR would consider whether there was a suitable candidate internally.

Comparatively, external recruitment required careful vetting, while internal selection was less troublesome. But the problem was that internal recruitment essentially meant a chief steward role, while external recruitment at least had an upper limit on capability.

After much thought, Zhao Fusheng himself felt a bit conflicted.

"Hmm, maybe I'll just pick someone from the Strategic Planning Office," Zhao Fusheng muttered to himself after thinking it over.

Future Group's Strategic Planning Department had grown considerably and now housed a large number of educated and capable elites. In Zheng Yao's words, she treated it as a training ground for middle-level leaders of the group.

Zhao Fusheng agreed with this. Although both he and Zheng Yao were self-taught and had achieved success, Zhao Fusheng knew well that for a large conglomerate to stand firm in the business world, it ultimately needed professional corporate management talent.

The phrase 'prepare for a rainy day' was not just empty talk.
