Chapter 0133: Tour Guide

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0133章 导游

Stories of brave knights slaying dragons often feel particularly exhilarating.

Alternatively, the tale of Don Quixote also commands respect, after all, not everyone has the courage to keep moving forward.

But that said, doing what one knows is impossible may be admirable for a hero, but for most ordinary people, it's simply a stretch.

Zhao Fusheng never intended to be a hero; he merely hoped to live a little better.

“Haven’t had breakfast?” Zhou Yun said to Zhao Fusheng. Unlike Fan Baobao, who could be unrestrained with Zhao Fusheng, she couldn’t, since the two of them weren’t even friends, strictly speaking.

“Not yet, I was waiting for you two to treat me,” Zhao Fusheng said with a smile.

The fact that Fan Baobao had brought Zhou Yun out alone showed that among the dormmates, the two of them had the best relationship.

“Shameless, making two girls treat you to a meal.” Fan Baobao unceremoniously scorned Zhao Fusheng, then pulled out her meal card with a flourish and handed it to him. “Come on, I’ll treat you to the cafeteria.”

“Thank you, Miss Fan.” Zhao Fusheng quickly bowed in gratitude.

Zhou Yun watched the two of them perform like actors in a play and couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

“Sorry, you must find this amusing,” Zhao Fusheng said to Zhou Yun as they walked. “We’ve been messing around like this at home since we were kids.”

“It’s fine, I understand.” Zhou Yun nodded. “Since Baobao came to the Central Academy of Drama, she’s talked about you the most.”

“She talks about me?” Zhao Fusheng looked at Zhou Yun in surprise.

That Fan Baobao would mention him in the dorm was quite unexpected.

“Of course, she’s often—” Before Zhou Yun could finish, Fan Baobao pushed her out the door.

“Stop gossiping, I never knew you were such a busybody.”

“I’m not, you clearly—”

The girls’ voices faded away. Zhao Fusheng shook his head, gave a wry smile, and walked out of the room.

He could tell that Fan Baobao and Zhou Yun were very close. Although Zhou Yun sometimes spoke bluntly, she wasn’t the scheming type.

Such a friend was exactly what Fan Baobao needed. After all, everyone needs someone willing to tell them the truth, even if the truth can be infuriating. But one must admit, if there’s no one around to speak honestly, then that person is truly a failure.

The cafeteria at the Central Academy of Drama, in Zhao Fusheng’s words, was like a movie.

Exactly, a movie.

After all, most people here would eventually work in the film and television industry, whether on stage or behind the scenes. In the next ten to twenty years, they would become the pillars of the industry.

“See, aren’t there a lot of handsome guys and pretty girls at our school?” Fan Baobao said smugly, looking at Zhao Fusheng with an expression that said, “Envy me, hate me.”

Zhao Fusheng ignored her completely, lowering his head to attack the breakfast in front of him.

Having known Fan Baobao for so many years, he was all too familiar with her tricks. Trying to fool him—how easy did she think it was?

He was almost a hundred percent sure that if he nodded, Fan Baobao would ask him which girl he had his eye on, and the rest of the scene would be predictable.

After being burned enough times, he naturally wouldn’t fall for it again.

Sure enough, seeing that Zhao Fusheng wasn’t taking the bait, Fan Baobao muttered “boring” under her breath and continued eating.

“Baobao, you two have such a great relationship,” Zhou Yun said softly to Fan Baobao as Zhao Fusheng got up to get some porridge.

Fan Baobao tilted her head, thought for a moment, then smiled. “It’s been like this since we were kids.”

As she spoke, she looked at Zhao Fusheng’s back and said quietly, “You don’t know, but he actually has a terrible temper. Once in middle school, someone called us a slut and a bastard, and he chased after four of them for half an hour. If I hadn’t twisted my ankle, he probably wouldn’t have stopped.”

Zhou Yun was stunned. She blinked and clicked her tongue in amazement, never imagining that Zhao Fusheng, who had seemed so warm from their first meeting, could be so violent.

In fact, Zhao Fusheng had never been the docile type. Before college, anyone who provoked him—except for Fan Baobao, whom he couldn’t handle—he would retaliate on the spot.

Being cursed at to his face and just smiling it off was not Zhao Fusheng’s style. He preferred to take action first.

“What bad things are you saying about me now?” Zhao Fusheng walked back and asked Fan Baobao.

Fan Baobao pursed her lips and said nothing.

Zhou Yun, however, smiled. “No, she’s praising you.”

“Come on, I don’t believe that,” Zhao Fusheng said with a laugh.

“Oh, you! I think it’s been too long since I taught you a lesson. Come here.” Fan Baobao immediately took offense, stood up, and made as if to fight him.

How could Zhao Fusheng give her that chance? He said casually, “Ah, I’m thinking, when I go back, how should I tell Aunt Li? Beijing doesn’t seem to suit some people.”

Fan Baobao instantly deflated. Li Yuan had never been keen on her coming to Beijing to study, and if Zhao Fusheng said something bad, she might force her to drop out and return to Ninghai.

As the saying goes, a mother knows her daughter. Fan Baobao understood her mother all too well.

Seeing Fan Baobao back down, Zhao Fusheng didn’t press further. After breakfast, the three of them walked to the school gate.

As for where to go shopping, Zhao Fusheng didn’t care, but Zhou Yun and Fan Baobao had a disagreement. In Zhao Fusheng’s opinion, instead of shopping, they might as well go to the library and read. But unfortunately, neither of them was inclined to do something so quiet.

The problem was that both Fan Baobao and Zhou Yun were too young—students in their early twenties. In their limited experience of going out on their own, holidays seemed to involve either eating or shopping. But back then, it was just girls; now with Zhao Fusheng along, they couldn’t just eat all day, could they?

Though it sounded nice, actually doing it would probably be very boring.

Looking up at the sky, Zhao Fusheng thought for a moment. “Um, how about you take me hiking?”

“Hiking?”

The two girls looked at each other. Though they had a bad feeling, since they couldn’t think of a better suggestion, they nodded together.

“Alright, let’s go hiking.”

They didn’t notice the fleeting smile that crossed Zhao Fusheng’s lips.
