Chapter 1388 Growing Pains

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第1388章 成长的烦恼

"What?"

Zhao Fusheng stared blankly at Tan Kaixuan standing before him. "You want to invest in Facebook?"

"To be precise, I'm representing my venture capital firm," Tan Kaixuan said to Zhao Fusheng. "We are very optimistic about Facebook's future development and believe it will be a groundbreaking company. So if you're considering selling your shares in Facebook, I think I'm the most suitable person."

Zhao Fusheng looked helpless.

He really hadn't expected that Tan Kaixuan would specifically come to him to discuss the issue of Facebook shares.

When he first invested in Facebook, they had mentioned that if he ever sold his shares, Tan Kaixuan would be the first to consider. But at that time, even Tan Kaixuan himself didn't think Facebook would develop so quickly.

Yet who could have imagined that in just a few years, Facebook's growth would exceed everyone's expectations, and now it was valued at over a billion dollars.

Almost everyone in the internet industry knew that Facebook's rise was inevitable.

Some things, since they can't be avoided, you have to join them. That's the famous "brother basketball" theory. The practitioners were a certain emperor and Durant, who liked to drink Scarlett's bathwater.

After discussions, Tan Kaixuan and his think tank believed that since they were not optimistic about the US financial market and economy, obtaining Facebook shares would undoubtedly be beneficial for their development, even if it cost a lot, it would be worth it.

"Brother Venture Capital Fund has always been committed to investing in promising companies. Our mission is..." Tan Kaixuan said seriously to Zhao Fusheng.

"Get lost!"

Zhao Fusheng was blunt with him, glaring. "Stop talking nonsense. What's really going on? Spill it!"

Tan Kaixuan chuckled. "I knew I couldn't fool you."

Then he explained to Zhao Fusheng: "Actually, it's nothing. The company discussed it and figured since you can't keep the Facebook shares, we might as well take them over. Most of Brother Investment Fund's capital comes from the US, so the Americans can't stop their own wealthy from being major shareholders of Facebook, right?"

Zhao Fusheng frowned. "How will you handle the competition from Sequoia Capital?"

"Negotiate," Tan Kaixuan said casually. "In the end, it's all about profit. We'll sit down and talk, see if we can reach a win-win."

"And what about Mark Zuckerberg?"

Zhao Fusheng was curious. Logically, Zuckerberg would be very opposed to such matters.

"I've talked to him. Zuckerberg has no objections," Tan Kaixuan said easily. "Compared to others, he's more willing to deal with me."

Zhao Fusheng thought about it and realized it made sense. After all, Facebook's initial funding came from Tan Kaixuan, even though the money was from Zhao Fusheng, it was Tan Kaixuan who handed it to Zuckerberg.

"I won't get involved in this," Zhao Fusheng said after thinking. "Go talk to Dong Chenxi. Whatever you two agree on, I won't interfere or oppose."

After much thought, this was the best solution. Whatever Tan Kaixuan wanted to say or do, he simply wouldn't participate. That was probably the best approach.

After all, as friends, they might sometimes act emotionally, but on this matter, Zhao Fusheng really didn't want to hurt their friendship because of it.

Tan Kaixuan understood Zhao Fusheng's thoughts and smiled, nodding. "Alright, I'll find her."

After they finished discussing business, Zhao Fusheng asked Tan Kaixuan, "By the way, when do you plan to get married?"

This guy was about the same age as him, but he had gotten married while Tan Kaixuan wandered around like a free man. As a good friend, Zhao Fusheng had to say something.

"Me?"

Tan Kaixuan shrugged and shook his head decisively. "I'm not like you, giving up the whole forest for one tree. I'm a man who aims to achieve a thousand kills."

A thousand kills?

Zhao Fusheng was taken aback, then realized what the guy meant.

Shaking his head speechlessly, Zhao Fusheng said, "Watch your safety, or you'll end up with a bunch of diseases. I won't visit you in the hospital."

"Get lost!" Tan Kaixuan said irritably. "Can't you wish me well? You have to curse me."

Zhao Fusheng rolled his eyes, too lazy to retort.

But he could understand that Tan Kaixuan living this way had his own reasons. Everyone has their own way of life; you might not like it, but you can't interfere.

Tan Kaixuan also knew that although Zhao Fusheng looked down on his playboy lifestyle, he still cared about him, otherwise he wouldn't have asked when he was getting married.

But the problem was that Tan Kaixuan really wasn't mentally prepared for marriage.

Everyone has one problem or another. There are many reasons to fear marriage: some are afraid of responsibility, others dislike being constrained. Tan Kaixuan belonged to the former; he always felt he didn't have the ability to take on the life of another person or even several people.

Not everyone is like Zhao Fusheng, craving the warmth of a family.

That was perfectly normal.

Seeing that Tan Kaixuan didn't want to discuss this further, Zhao Fusheng couldn't say more. They chatted about their recent situations, and then Zhao Fusheng saw Tan Kaixuan out.

"So, Tan Kaixuan wants to take over Facebook?" Fan Baobao asked Zhao Fusheng after Tan Kaixuan left.

She had been upstairs while Zhao Fusheng and Tan Kaixuan were talking.

Zhao Fusheng nodded. "Yeah, he's now a full-fledged fund manager, handling a lot of things."

Some things didn't need to be said explicitly. Both Zhao Fusheng and Tan Kaixuan understood.

When they sat at the negotiation table, it meant they had to set aside their friendship to consider the issues; otherwise, the deal couldn't be made.

"Do you think Old Tan will change?" Zhao Fusheng suddenly asked Fan Baobao.

To be honest, Tan Kaixuan's sudden visit today gave him a sense of unfamiliarity. If not for that, he might have agreed to Tan Kaixuan immediately.

Fan Baobao frowned slightly, looked at Zhao Fusheng, seemed to guess what he was thinking, bent down, hugged him, and said, "Silly, things aren't as bad as you think. Don't you know? He's not his own master now either."

Zhao Fusheng nodded, sighed, and said nothing more.

He understood Fan Baobao's words perfectly well. After all, he and Tan Kaixuan were no longer the ignorant youths who laughed and joked all day. Each had a group of people depending on them for a living. Some things, even he couldn't decide casually. Otherwise, he wouldn't have told Tan Kaixuan to talk to Dong Chenxi about the Facebook shares.

Sometimes, growing up is not a comfortable thing for anyone.
