Chapter 0257: Wine Does Not Intoxicate, One Intoxicates Oneself

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0257章 酒不醉人人自醉

"With a mind like yours, it's a waste to study advertising." Tan Kaixuan glanced at Zhao Fusheng and curled his lip. "You should study business management."

Zhao Fusheng smiled, said nothing, and remained noncommittal.

The only thing he was grateful for now was that he had these roommates and classmates who knew him inside out. At least he knew who he could trust deeply, treat as brothers, and who he should keep at a distance.

But at the same time, because this was a world full of variables, it meant that life from now on would become special again—at least in many ways, it would become unpredictable again. Whether in judging people or handling affairs, he would need to rely more heavily on his own experience and ability.

In his previous life, Zhao Fusheng had told too many lies, owed too many debts, and let too many people down. In his eyes, whether they were family or friends, they were all his creditors.

So they could demand a lot, and they could make many mistakes; Zhao Fusheng would choose to tolerate them, because these were debts he owed.

"Brother Wang, the website you guys made is really interesting. I've been playing on it too." Han Meimei said cheerfully to Zhao Fusheng and Wang Zhen.

Zhao Fusheng smiled. Wang Zhen, however, was a bit surprised: "Really? Anything that needs improvement?"

He was a tech geek; for him, having his own ideas recognized by others was a particularly happy thing.

"I think it's pretty good. Too bad the level is too low to get married..." Han Meimei sighed.

"Marry whom?"

Wen Yu frowned: "Don't waste time playing that kind of boring game."

"Oh." Han Meimei replied softly and picked up her drink to sip.

"I'm going to the restroom." Zhao Fusheng smiled and kicked Wang Zhen under the table.

Wang Zhen was startled by the kick, then saw Zhao Fusheng's expression and said, "I'll go too."

The two walked side by side toward the restroom.

"What's up?" Wang Zhen asked Zhao Fusheng curiously.

Clearly, Zhao Fusheng was deliberately avoiding Wen Yu and Han Meimei, otherwise he wouldn't have called him along.

"In a bit, make sure Wen Yu drinks more. Get him drunk." Zhao Fusheng winked at Wang Zhen.

Wang Zhen was taken aback: "Why get him drunk? That guy turns into a dead pig when he's drunk. You're not planning to teach him a lesson because he said our website was bad, are you?"

Zhao Fusheng chuckled: "Why would I teach him a lesson? I'm doing this for his own damn good."

"Huh?"

Wang Zhen looked utterly confused, but then seemed to realize something and burst out laughing: "You're not planning to set up Old Wen and Han Meimei..."

At that moment, Zhao Fusheng's expression was solemn as he washed his hands and said, "Comrade Wang Zhen, the happiness of Comrade Wen Yu's lower half is in your hands."

Though he felt something was off with that sentence, Wang Zhen still nodded: "Don't worry, leave it to me."

But then he shook his head: "No, Old Tan will definitely cause trouble. I can't outdrink him."

Zhao Fusheng turned off the faucet and shook the water droplets off his hands: "You know Old Tan. As soon as you start plying Wen Yu with drinks, Old Tan will join in to kick him while he's down."

Wang Zhen thought about it and realized that was true. Tan Kaixuan was notorious for loving to join in the fun. If they told him in advance about such an amusing thing, he'd definitely stir up trouble. But if they didn't tell him, as soon as he noticed Wen Yu being plied with drinks, he'd jump right in.

When the two returned, Tan Kaixuan was still muttering: "Hey, what were you two discussing in the bathroom? Let me tell you, no one's leaving early tonight."

"Don't worry, we're both family men. Not everyone's like you, thinking about picking up girls all day." Zhao Fusheng shot back irritably.

Tan Kaixuan immediately took offense: "What do you mean you're both family men? I won't say anything about Old Wang, but Sister Dong is in Binzhou. You keep saying you have a girlfriend—why don't you bring her out to meet us?"

Zhao Fusheng's eye twitched as he looked at Tan Kaixuan: "You should be grateful the law protects you."

"What?"

Tan Kaixuan looked bewildered.

"Ha, if murder weren't illegal, I'd exchange a hundred yuan for coins right now and pelt you to death!" Zhao Fusheng glared at Tan Kaixuan and said hatefully.

"Hahaha!"

"Haha!"

"You bastard!"

Everyone burst into laughter, even Han Meimei covering her mouth with her hand as she watched the others joking around.

They were all acquaintances, no outsiders, so the place they came to was a barbecue restaurant. It wasn't big, about forty or fifty square meters, specializing in skewered ribs—pork ribs cooked barbecue-style in several flavors: spicy, sweet and sour, five-spice, and numbing spicy.

They all loved it and came here often.

Zhao Fusheng remembered that about seven or eight years after graduation, the owner, who now delivered goods by bicycle, would be driving an SUV.

He had also bought a storefront near the school, two apartments upstairs, and opened three branches throughout Ninghai City.

It had to be said, there was no industry in this world where you couldn't get rich, only people who couldn't get rich.

That was beyond doubt.

Barbecue naturally called for beer. They ordered a case of Snow, got a drink for Han Meimei, and each poured themselves a glass, drinking with great delight.

"Xiao Han, take care of yourself. We'll drink on our own," Zhao Fusheng said to Han Meimei with a smile. "If you need more to eat, we'll order more."

Han Meimei nodded, eating the boiled tripe, her eyes exceptionally bright. "I understand, Brother Zhao."

She felt differently about Zhao Fusheng than about Wen Yu's other two roommates. This Zhao Fusheng seemed to have a maturity beyond everyone else. Every time she interacted with them, Han Meimei felt that even if Zhao Fusheng rarely spoke, he could always grasp everyone's emotions.

She had never seen this in anyone her age before.

"Come on, come on, drink up, drink up."

Wang Zhen took the lead, urging Wen Yu to join in. Tan Kaixuan naturally didn't lag behind. The three raised their glasses and downed them.

Zhao Fusheng didn't say a word, silently picked up his glass, took a sip, and set it down.

Everyone knew he usually didn't drink, and the fact that he was willing to have a little today was already good enough, so no one minded.

One advantage of drinking with good friends was that you didn't have to worry about being forced to drink.

Of course, if certain good friends had ulterior motives, that was another story.

Take Zhao Fusheng, for example, or Wang Zhen.

Um, and also Tan Kaixuan, who, though not sure what was going on, was clearly joining in the fun.

Logically, Wen Yu wasn't a bad drinker. In the dorm, he was second only to Tan Kaixuan, so he could hold his liquor.

But the problem was, today three of them were ganging up on him. Two fists couldn't beat four hands, especially with Zhao Fusheng occasionally chiming in from the sidelines.

Soon, Wen Yu was already swaying a little.

Taking advantage of his trip to the restroom, Zhao Fusheng said to Han Meimei, who was watching the direction Wen Yu had disappeared with a worried look, "Um, Xiao Han, there's something I'd like to ask for your help."

"Ah?" Han Meimei was startled. "Go ahead."

Zhao Fusheng smiled wryly. "Your Brother Wang and I have to go back to the studio later. Old Tan has plans tonight, so if Old Wen gets too drunk, we'll have to trouble you to take care of him."

"Huh?"

Han Meimei was stunned.

She suddenly understood why Zhao Fusheng and the others had been so determined to get Wen Yu drunk.

Even Tan Kaixuan's look toward Zhao Fusheng changed. He had been just joining in the fun, but at that moment, he suddenly felt that he must never offend Zhao Fusheng.

This guy was too cunning!

But Zhao Fusheng didn't feel the least bit cunning. In his view, he was helping a pair of lovers come together.

What great merit that was!

Just thinking about it made Zhao Fusheng feel pleased.

After a while, Wen Yu came back. He had drunk a lot, his face was flushed, and as soon as he sat down, he waved his hand: "No more, no more, I can't drink anymore. If I drink more, I'll throw up."

Zhao Fusheng smiled. "It's okay, you can drink again after you throw up."

But Wen Yu absolutely refused to drink anymore. Wang Zhen and Tan Kaixuan looked at each other, unsure what to do.

At that moment, Han Meimei suddenly spoke up: "It's okay, I'll drink for Brother Wen Yu."

Zhao Fusheng's eyes lit up. He looked at Han Meimei and suddenly smiled. This girl was also quite clever.
