Chapter 0297: Following Suit

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0297章 亦步亦趋

Living with Fan Baobao, the biggest advantage was that Zhao Fusheng didn't have to worry about being too lonely.

For Fan Baobao, in the prime of her youth, every day was full of meaning.

Well, to put it bluntly, she simply couldn't stay idle.

At a little past seven in the morning, while Zhao Fusheng was still dreaming, Fan Baobao's vigorous voice rang out downstairs. In her own words, the morning hours are the best time of the day. Though it was the dead of winter outside, she wanted to fill her heart with sunshine.

"I just want to sleep." Rolling his eyes, Zhao Fusheng couldn't be bothered with this overly energetic girl. In his view, Fan Baobao was just like those kids who had just been let out of school—simply not used to the holiday life.

"No, get up and come exercise with me." Fan Baobao tugged at Zhao Fusheng.

Zhao Fusheng clung tightly to his blanket, refusing to leave the warm bed, shaking his head like a rattle-drum: "No way, go by yourself. Don't drag me into this."

Half an hour later...

Fully dressed, Zhao Fusheng appeared behind Fan Baobao, jogging along with her while muttering, "Girl, you're a girl. Can't you mind your image a bit?"

Fan Baobao had her hair in a ponytail, which swayed back and forth from the running. Hearing this, she snorted, "What image do I need with you..."

Zhao Fusheng resignedly sighed, too lazy to reason with this girl anymore.

For a crazy girl who would throw herself onto him just to get him out of bed, he really couldn't be bothered to say anything.

Reason was something that only worked on normal people; reasoning with Fan Baobao was like casting pearls before swine.

They ran for less than an hour before Fan Baobao finally let Zhao Fusheng off. Even then, she wasn't satisfied and said to him, "Your stamina is really lacking. You're in terrible shape."

Zhao Fusheng chuckled: "Stamina isn't about how long you can run, you know?"

"Then what is it about?" Fan Baobao asked curiously.

Zhao Fusheng coughed dryly, deciding not to go there, and shook his head: "It's not what you're thinking."

Fan Baobao gave him a puzzled look. She noticed that this guy always spoke in half-sentences these days, and she had no idea where he picked up that habit.

"By the way, are you going out today?" As they walked back side by side, Fan Baobao asked Zhao Fusheng.

Zhao Fusheng shook his head: "No, I've got nothing to do if I go out." Then he gave her a curious look: "Are you going out?"

Clearly, Fan Baobao was planning to go out, otherwise why would she ask him that?

Fan Baobao nodded: "An old classmate from the Ninghai Film Academy wants to get together."

She paused, then added: "A girl."

With that, she quickened her pace and ran straight toward the door.

Zhao Fusheng scratched his head in confusion, not sure what that was about. Why explain herself for a class reunion? Things like that were perfectly normal during winter break.

Shaking his head, Zhao Fusheng couldn't be bothered to say more and walked behind on his own. He really had nothing to do today. He'd call that guy Tan Kaixuan later to ask about the situation in Shanghai. After the New Year, he planned to go check it out.

He didn't necessarily have to get in, but Zhao Fusheng knew that if there was a chance to make a profit, he definitely couldn't miss it.

Going against money wasn't Zhao Fusheng's style.

Fan Baobao left quickly. Zhao Fusheng took out his phone and called Tan Kaixuan.

"Old Zhao, you're really eager, aren't you?" Tan Kaixuan's cheerful voice came through. This guy had been fond of teasing Zhao Fusheng lately.

Zhao Fusheng couldn't be bothered to retort and asked directly, "How's the thing I asked you to look into?"

That was what he cared about most. Because the memories in his mind were rather vague, Zhao Fusheng couldn't be sure now whether the last surge of the May 19th rally would really happen as expected.

Tan Kaixuan also knew when to joke and when to be serious. He nodded and said, "I checked the data, and it turns out you were right."

"What do you mean?" Zhao Fusheng asked, puzzled.

Tan Kaixuan sneered: "If my research is correct, someone must have gotten some inside info and is quietly accumulating shares."

"So early?" Zhao Fusheng was quite surprised. He wasn't shocked by insider trading in the stock market; what surprised him was that someone was already positioning themselves this early.

"Yeah, and they seem to have a target. If you don't pay close attention, you wouldn't notice at all." Tan Kaixuan said.

"I see. Later, jot down the names of those stocks. I'll quietly buy a little bit too." Zhao Fusheng thought for a moment and said to Tan Kaixuan.

"Not just you, me too." Tan Kaixuan chuckled.

Zhao Fusheng frowned: "What are you going to do?"

"Make money, of course." Tan Kaixuan said. "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. My parents won't give me that much money anyway."

Though he said that, Zhao Fusheng was still a bit uneasy. But after hanging up, he thought about it and understood. If Tan Kaixuan didn't jump at such an opportunity, he wouldn't be Tan Kaixuan.

A person's character often determines their fate. It's true that a leopard can't change its spots. Take Zhao Fusheng, for example. Even after being reborn, he was still that somewhat dull in emotions, somewhat unambitious little man. Though he held a bunch of cards that others would consider trump cards, most of the time Zhao Fusheng still lived cautiously, extremely careful.

By the same token, Tan Kaixuan was inherently fond of speculation. Faced with such an opportunity, there was no way he wouldn't get involved. In fact, his current restraint was already quite restrained.

At the very least, he hadn't urged his parents to join in.

Speaking of which, Zhao Fusheng thought of his own father. Yesterday, he'd been intimidated by his dad's artistic flair and had forgotten to ask about the loan.

Because Zhao Fusheng had thought it over carefully. The biggest issue with his family's business was that loan. Though he didn't know how his father had gotten it, Zhao Fusheng felt it was not only a risk but also an opportunity.

With that thought, he suddenly realized he had lied to Fan Baobao earlier. He definitely had to go out today, because a phone call wouldn't be enough to explain things clearly.

After tidying up, Zhao Fusheng dressed, took the bus, and headed straight for the department store.

Half an hour later, Zhao Fusheng appeared in his father's office.

"Why are you here?" Father Zhao was visibly startled at the sight of Zhao Fusheng and asked curiously. In his memory, Zhao Fusheng rarely came to the mall.

With a light laugh, Zhao Fusheng said, "Dad, I have something I want to discuss with you."

Father Zhao glanced at Zhao Fusheng, got up, and closed the office door.
