Chapter 0348: Return
Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0348章 归来
Everyone’s path is chosen by themselves—Wang Zhen, Dong Chenxi, and Zhao Fusheng are no exception.
As the saying goes, you cannot discuss ice with a summer insect. Trying to impose one’s own thinking on others is the most pointless thing. So although Zhao Fusheng could foresee some things happening, he still had no way to say anything.
He could only let nature take its course and wish them well.
Because even if he spoke now, they wouldn’t listen. After all, college students in this era were still considered the favored sons of heaven. Everyone thought they had the ability and the discernment to tell right from wrong—how could they change their minds just because of one word from him?
After seeing off Dong Chenxi, Zhao Fusheng thought for a moment, went home to pack some things, and simply returned to the dormitory.
As for what specific project to do, he really needed to think it over carefully. This wasn’t child’s play; throwing millions of investment in without choosing the right project would be a loss if something went wrong.
Anyone can be a Monday morning quarterback. As long as one’s vision isn’t low, no matter what you say, you can’t find fault or deny it. But the problem is, if you go to a bank in 2018 and say that Boss Liu of “I Don’t Know Its Beauty” and Boss Ma of “Ordinary Family” are worth investing in, see if the bank manager doesn’t curse you.
Isn’t that stating the obvious?
So Zhao Fusheng had to think carefully about what project suited him—something with lower risk and long-term investment value.
“I’m back!”
Tan Kaixuan’s loud voice rang out. Although Wang Zhen and Zhao Fusheng had talked on the phone, this guy was the first to return to the dorm.
Zhao Fusheng frowned and glanced at Tan Kaixuan, who was loaded with bags and packages. “Are you moving?”
“No way. My mom brought you guys some food, and this is a gift for you.” Tan Kaixuan grinned. “Just as you said, the stock market has been fluctuating lately, and the risk is not small.”
Zhao Fusheng rolled his eyes and couldn’t be bothered to say anything more.
Doing the same thing with different people gives a completely different mindset.
For example, going to a roadside bathhouse to find a shampoo girl to satisfy a physical need is just a quick finish. But if it were a young, beautiful star who asks millions of troops if they want to see her take off her clothes, not to mention the positions or how many times, at least the thought of taking a souvenir photo would definitely arise, and like music lingering for three days, it would be unforgettable.
Another example: a college student working the night shift at a nightclub might be seen as too wild and unrestrained. But if a former hostess gets into college and works hard to graduate, she becomes a model of reform and inspiration.
Zhao Fusheng could actually understand Aunt Tan’s mindset. In her view, if she hadn’t listened to him and kept all her money in the stock market, the ups and downs might not have yielded as much. But she had cashed out and only invested a few thousand, so no matter how the market performed, she wouldn’t lose.
It was just a different perspective on things.
But Zhao Fusheng didn’t need to point it out. For him, entering the stock market once was enough.
As for whether Uncle and Aunt Tan would take his advice and focus on real business in the future, that was anyone’s guess. After all, they were adults with their own judgment; they wouldn’t easily follow the directions of a younger generation.
Moreover, Zhao Fusheng was well aware that Tan Kaixuan’s parents were different from Wang Zhen’s. It’s often said that vision determines one’s scope, and there’s some truth to that. At the very least, the Tan couple’s scope was a bit higher than that of the Wang couple.
Soon, Wang Zhen and Wen Yu returned to the dorm. Wen Yu had dropped off Han Meimei first before coming back. Each of them brought local specialties from home, which was a nice treat for Zhao Fusheng.
“How about we go out for a gathering tonight?” Tan Kaixuan suggested.
This guy had made some money following Zhao Fusheng during winter break, and later invested a few thousand himself, earning a little extra. With his wallet full, he was feeling quite comfortable.
The others naturally had no objections. They all knew Tan Kaixuan’s family was well-off, which was why they had nicknamed him “Boss Tan.”
They went out, found a restaurant, sat down, ordered dishes, and got a case of beer.
Zhao Fusheng naturally didn’t drink. He had gotten used to not drinking unless necessary, and the others understood. Unless it was a special occasion, they didn’t make him drink.
“How did you guys spend the Spring Festival?” Tan Kaixuan asked Wen Yu and Wang Zhen with a smile.
Wang Zhen shrugged. “Just the usual—hung out with classmates, stayed home.”
Wen Yu nodded. “Yeah, pretty boring. Stayed home all day, or went to Han Meimei’s place.”
Tan Kaixuan grinned. “Come on, you could have gone to the internet café. I remember you still had a few online girlfriends…”
Before Wen Yu got together with Han Meimei, he did have a few female netizens he chatted with. Zhao Fusheng remembered that one of them was even about to meet up.
But hearing Tan Kaixuan’s words, Wen Yu’s face looked like he had eaten something awful. He was completely deflated.
“Don’t even mention it. It’s all tears, bro.” Wen Yu looked at them, downed a glass of wine, wiped his mouth, and said with a bitter smile, “Guess who the female netizen I chatted with the most turned out to be?”
“Who? Do you know her?” Wang Zhen and Tan Kaixuan exchanged glances.
Zhao Fusheng blinked. A flash of inspiration struck him, and he blurted out, “Don’t tell me it was Han Meimei.”
Wen Yu’s face was full of bitterness as he nodded. “It was her. That girl got my number from her brother and added me on her own. No wonder she chatted so happily with me and knew me so well—it was her all along…”
As he said this, he couldn’t help but laugh himself. The others were laughing uncontrollably too, even Zhao Fusheng found it amusing. Han Meimei was quite clever to come up with such a trick.
It seemed that if not for the unexpected incident on Christmas, she might have already won Wen Yu over on her own.
“By the way, do your parents know about you two?” Wang Zhen suddenly asked.
Wen Yu nodded. “Yeah, they know. Her brother beat me up and told me that if I ever wronged his sister, we wouldn’t be brothers anymore, and he’d fight me to the death.”
Everyone knew that Han Meimei’s brother and Wen Yu had been childhood friends for over a decade, so it wasn’t surprising. Still, turning a brother into a brother-in-law had a certain comedic feel.
“What about the parents? What do they think?” Wang Zhen pressed on.
Zhao Fusheng glanced at him and silently sighed to himself.
But Wen Yu, unaware, said with a confused look, “Parents? No objections. Our families know each other. At this point, there’s no issue. My parents said it’s up to me—we’ll consider other things after I graduate. After all, Meimei is still young, and I’m just over twenty. We’ll have to establish our careers before thinking about marriage.”
Wang Zhen nodded, looking thoughtful.
Zhao Fusheng couldn’t be bothered to say anything to him. Some things can’t be decided on impulse. It’s like a doctor telling a patient, “Your illness can’t be treated with current medical conditions. Tomorrow you’ll have a headache, the day after chest pain, and the day after that you might go deaf…”
After hearing that, the patient probably wouldn’t last a month.
So Zhao Fusheng naturally couldn’t tell Wang Zhen. After all, historically, whether rulers or ordinary people, everyone wants others to tell them the truth, yet they fear hearing it.
People are probably like that—they want to hear the truth, but they prefer flattery. Unless forced into a corner, no one wants to hear blunt words from outspoken friends, because hearing them inevitably makes one uncomfortable.
After several rounds of drinks and dishes, Tan Kaixuan suggested going to an internet café. Zhao Fusheng checked the time and agreed.
He wasn’t going back to the villa tonight. He had already called Dong Guoxiang and told him to move the servers and other stuff sometime tomorrow or the day after.
With nothing else to do, he might as well hang out with his roommates.
They entered the internet café, found four computers, and sat down. Zhao Fusheng glanced at his roommates; it had been a long time since he’d done a four-person LAN session.
“Waiter, give me four bottles of water,” Tan Kaixuan called out loudly. Clearly, he had been cooped up at home and was unusually excited since getting off the plane.
After all, home was a bit stifling for him. Although Uncle and Aunt Tan were open-minded, they were quite strict with him, and there was also his ice-cold sister, Tan Kaixin. Sometimes Zhao Fusheng wondered if Tan Kaixuan’s goofy personality was a result of his environment.
They drank water and played a few rounds of Red Alert on LAN. After Zhao Fusheng blew up his base three times with suicide trucks, Boss Tan completely lost it.
“Old Zhao, can’t you blow someone else up?” Tan Kaixuan glared at Zhao Fusheng.
Zhao Fusheng nodded. “Okay.”
A moment later, he sent an engineer to sneak into Tan Kaixuan’s base and successfully captured it instantly.
Tan Kaixuan felt utterly defeated, his face a picture of despair as he looked at Zhao Fusheng. “Dude, I think our friendship is about to end.”
Zhao Fusheng laughed. “Friend, you’re still young. The ship of friendship can capsize at any moment—it’s quite possible.”
“Hahaha!”
“Hahaha!”
Wen Yu and Wang Zhen both burst out laughing, tickled by the exchange between Zhao Fusheng and Tan Kaixuan. After all, Tan Kaixuan was usually the one who roasted others in the dorm; only Zhao Fusheng could roast him back.
And the key point was, every time Zhao Fusheng roasted him, Tan Kaixuan was helpless. Maybe that’s what they meant by “one thing subdues another.”
