Chapter 0490: Someone Else's Boyfriend

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0490章 别人家的男朋友

When they were young, many people felt a heartfelt disgust toward the phrase 'someone else's child.'

It couldn't be helped—parents were always going on about how wonderful someone else's child was. No one could easily like that.

Even Zhao Fusheng often heard his mother mutter about how obedient Bao Bao was, and why couldn't he be more well-behaved. As for Fan Bao Bao, Li Yuan frequently said, 'Ah, if only I could have a son like Fusheng.'

Back then, Fan Bao Bao never understood: why was someone else's child always better than one's own?

But now, Fan Bao Bao was beginning to understand.

The reason was simple—because now she felt that someone else's boyfriend definitely wouldn't be as hateful as her own, deliberately teasing her and taking pleasure in it.

Even though she knew Zhao Fusheng must have something planned for her, his current attitude still made Fan Bao Bao quite unhappy.

"Forget it, since someone's here today, I'll save him face." The young lady Fan consoled herself like this, shot Zhao Fusheng a fierce glare, and simply ignored him.

Zhao Fusheng chuckled, unbothered, and turned to Zhou Yun: "Jiang Wu is about to start shooting a new film. He said he's willing to put you in it—not a lead role, just a small supporting part. Are you willing to go?"

Zhou Yun was stunned. She never expected such a big opportunity to fall into her lap. Her family was well-off, so she certainly didn't lack money, but the problem was that becoming a star was her dream.

Now that she had a chance to get closer to realizing that dream, Zhou Yun was so excited she didn't know what to say; she just nodded repeatedly.

Fan Bao Bao was also happy for Zhou Yun. Since they were best friends, seeing Zhou Yun get an opportunity thrilled her as well.

"It's getting late. Xiao Qiang, go back and prepare. Don't work as an extra these next few days. I'll call you later," Zhao Fusheng said to Wang Qiang.

Wang Qiang was taken aback. He hesitated and said quietly, "Brother, um, I don't have a phone..."

Zhao Fusheng then remembered that Wang Qiang had only been in Beijing for half a year; there was no way he could afford a mobile phone.

Thinking this over, Zhao Fusheng said, "Then how about this: go back and pack your things. If you don't mind, you can squeeze in with me. What do you think?"

After all, there was space in his room—he could just add another single bed.

As for sharing a bed with Wang Qiang, Zhao Fusheng definitely wouldn't agree to that. No way, even if he were the Comedy King, he would never sleep in the same bed as another man.

"Is... is that appropriate?" Wang Qiang was stunned, never expecting Zhao Fusheng to come up with such a solution.

Zhao Fusheng waved his hand: "There's nothing inappropriate about it. We're all family, so you don't need to be so polite."

"Yeah, you're my brother. No need to stand on ceremony," Fan Bao Bao chimed in.

Since she said that, Zhou Yun naturally wouldn't object. Wang Qiang would only stay a few days before heading to the set to film, so it wouldn't affect their lives much.

"Yeah, just listen to your brother-in-law," Zhou Yun teased with a smile, saying to Wang Qiang.

Wang Qiang had no choice but to nod obediently. Zhao Fusheng then had Zhou Yun go back with him to pack his things, while he kept Fan Bao Bao behind to discuss something with her.

Zhou Yun understood Zhao Fusheng's intention. She took Wang Qiang to his place, leaving the space for Zhao Fusheng and Fan Bao Bao.

"Come on, what are you plotting?"

After Zhou Yun and Wang Qiang left, Fan Bao Bao asked Zhao Fusheng.

She wasn't stupid. Zhao Fusheng had deliberately sent the other two away, clearly meaning to talk to her alone.

Zhao Fusheng smiled: "You, why are you so sure I'm plotting something?"

Fan Bao Bao shot him an annoyed glare: "I've known you for years. Even though you've changed a lot this past year, every time you're scheming something, you unconsciously tap your fingers. That habit hasn't changed..."

Zhao Fusheng was speechless. He had only been joking, but he didn't expect Fan Bao Bao to know him so well.

He blinked, thinking that from now on, he'd have to be careful around Fan Bao Bao, or else he might get caught out by this girl at any moment.

"Actually, it's nothing serious. Sister Hua might be going through some changes soon, so my idea is that you should hold off on acting for now. When you're free, you can audition for some commercials." Zhao Fusheng told Fan Bao Bao about what was happening with Wang Jinghua and then said to her.

He hadn't told Zhou Yun because she wasn't signed with Wang Jinghua, so it had nothing to do with her.

Fan Bao Bao was different. Wang Jinghua had personally signed her under her own name. In other words, if Wang Jinghua switched sides, Fan Bao Bao would have to follow suit.

Otherwise, staying at Wang Jinghua's current company as a loyalist of a defector would lead to predictable treatment.

"Okay, I understand." Fan Bao Bao nodded, then looked at Zhao Fusheng: "I get the feeling you think highly of Xiao Qiang?"

She paused, puzzled: "Is it because he saved me and Zhou Yun?"

Zhao Fusheng nodded, then shook his head: "That's not quite it. Wang Qiang is a good person. I'm helping him partly because he did save you and has a good nature, and partly because I think he's lucky and will probably become famous."

"Lucky?"

Fan Bao Bao looked confused, clearly not understanding what Zhao Fusheng meant.

Zhao Fusheng smiled and explained: "Luck is actually very important. A person's achievements in life are largely due to luck. Innate talent, family environment, and meeting benefactors along the way—all of that is luck, isn't it?"

Fan Bao Bao wanted to argue, but on second thought, what he said wasn't wrong, so she just nodded obediently.

Zhao Fusheng smiled and continued: "In a lifetime, we brush past tens of thousands of people. In this vast world, the only thing we can control is ourselves. Even so-called true love—most people never actually meet the right person. What we call love is just a coincidence, meeting each other at the right time, and then getting together because we think the other suits us. In the end, it's also a matter of luck."

The last analogy made Fan Bao Bao blush for no reason, but Zhao Fusheng was too caught up in his speech to notice.

Still, Fan Bao Bao understood what he meant. After a moment, she said, "So you think he's lucky?"

Zhao Fusheng smiled: "Well, let's wait and see."

Then he leaned in, blinked at Fan Bao Bao, and said, "Now that it's just the two of us, how about we have a good chat?"

Fan Bao Bao was taken aback. For some reason, she felt that Zhao Fusheng's smile was very sinister...
