Chapter 0537: Class Reunion

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0537章 同学聚会

Zhao Ma had a very happy birthday this year. The whole family sat together harmoniously for a reunion dinner. Fan Baobao and Zhao Fusheng had a good relationship, something the elders could clearly see. Zhao Ma was actually a very simple woman; her life pursuit was for the family to get better day by day, for her husband to earn more money, for her son to grow up, and best of all, to let her hold a grandchild.

Now, everything was moving in the direction she hoped for. She had no reason not to be happy.

After dinner, Zhao Fusheng and Fan Baobao accompanied the elders for a while watching TV and chatting for a long time before getting up to leave.

Only, Fan Beibei didn't come along tonight. The little princess was a bit tired and stayed home to sleep.

Zhao Fusheng and Fan Baobao went downstairs and walked side by side on the road. A bright moon hung high in the sky, stars twinkling like mischievous children blinking.

"Auntie was really happy today," Fan Baobao suddenly said to Zhao Fusheng.

Zhao Fusheng was startled, then nodded: "My mom rarely drinks."

Today, Zhao Ma actually took the initiative to drink a bottle of beer, which was extremely rare. Usually, she never touched alcohol. And today, even Fan Baobao was allowed to have a glass of wine.

"Yeah, she was genuinely happy." Fan Baobao nodded, then looked at Zhao Fusheng: "I think you were really happy too."

If it were before they had confirmed their relationship, she might not have noticed this. But since the two had truly established their romantic relationship, Fan Baobao felt that her sensitivity to Zhao Fusheng's emotions had grown increasingly high, to the point where she could clearly discern his mood—good or bad—from a certain movement or look in his eyes.

Like today, Fan Baobao could clearly sense that Zhao Fusheng was genuinely, from the bottom of his heart, especially happy.

"Of course I'm happy." Zhao Fusheng smiled lightly, glanced at Fan Baobao, but said nothing.

For him, having the girl he loved and his dear parents all healthy and happily living by his side was already the happiest thing.

In his previous life, Zhao Fusheng took a lifetime to understand that living kindly is harder than living cleverly, because cleverness is a talent, while kindness is a choice—a choice of life attitude.

"As long as you're happy." Fan Baobao didn't think much, smiled and took Zhao Fusheng's arm, and the two walked side by side on the road.

Since it was late, the buses had stopped running. It was late summer and early autumn, the night air cool as water.

"Walk with me for a while. I have to go back the day after tomorrow," Fan Baobao said to Zhao Fusheng as he was about to hail a taxi.

Zhao Fusheng was taken aback, then nodded: "Okay."

Walking along the road, with occasional cars and pedestrians passing by, Zhao Fusheng and Fan Baobao chatted about childhood anecdotes as they headed toward the university.

"Sometimes I feel time passes so fast. In the blink of an eye, we've grown up," Fan Baobao suddenly said to Zhao Fusheng. "Remember, in junior high, when someone sent me a love letter, you went to their class to block them..."

Zhao Fusheng blinked, looking innocent: "How could that be? When did I ever do such a thing?"

"You definitely did." Fan Baobao glared at him. "It seems you've had designs on me since then, haven't you?"

Hearing this, Zhao Fusheng was at a loss whether to laugh or cry, so he just kept silent.

Arguing with a woman is definitely the stupidest thing in the world. Zhao Fusheng wouldn't do that.

"Time flies like a shuttle, years pass like a weaver's shuttle."

Fan Baobao suddenly sighed with a particularly literary air.

Zhao Fusheng laughed. Regarding his girlfriend's sudden transformation into a literary young woman, he indicated that he could fully keep up with the rhythm: "If I define the moment of my birth as having all time, then time has indeed slipped from my hands; but if I define the moment of my death as having all my time, then I have never lost time, but have been gaining it all along..."

As he spoke, Zhao Fusheng looked at Fan Baobao: "For us, cherishing every minute and second of the present is enough."

Fan Baobao blinked her big eyes, looking at Zhao Fusheng, silent for a long time.

She was the kind of person who went with the flow. She had just been sighing, not expecting Zhao Fusheng to be even more literary. Fan Baobao instantly didn't know how to respond.

But fortunately, she always had a way of handling such situations. She gave a proud hum, turned her head away from her boyfriend, and walked straight ahead.

Zhao Fusheng was stunned for a moment, then laughed and stepped forward to catch up.

...

...

Nothing happened that night. The next morning when Zhao Fusheng got up, Fan Baobao was already doing physical training in the living room. Last night when they came back, they didn't sleep together as Zhao Ma and Li Yuan had imagined, simply because they were too tired. After washing up separately, they went to sleep.

"Good morning," Fan Baobao said cheerfully to Zhao Fusheng.

Watching her do stretching exercises, Zhao Fusheng helplessly shook his head: "Morning."

"What do you want to eat? I'll go out and buy it later," Fan Baobao asked Zhao Fusheng.

Zhao Fusheng shook his head: "There's still rice and stuff in the fridge. I'll make some porridge."

"Okay," Fan Baobao agreed with a nod.

She was never picky about food; she would eat whatever Zhao Fusheng made.

After breakfast, the two lazed around at home for a while. When it was almost time, Fan Baobao dragged Zhao Fusheng to buy train tickets back to Beijing for the day after tomorrow.

They had flown back; this time, Fan Baobao planned to take the train. There was no rush anyway, and with nothing urgent, a couple of naps on the train and they'd arrive.

Zhao Fusheng had no objections. In fact, he preferred Fan Baobao to take the train, as it was relatively safer than flying.

But just as they left the house and before they reached the train ticket agency, Fan Baobao's phone rang.

Glancing at the number, she pressed the answer button: "Hello?"

After a while, Fan Baobao put down the phone with a strange expression, then looked at Zhao Fusheng: "It seems I might have to leave the day after tomorrow."

"What's wrong?" Zhao Fusheng frowned, a bit puzzled.

Fan Baobao smiled wryly: "High school class reunion. Didn't they notify you?"

Hearing this question, Zhao Fusheng blinked and said nothing.

It seemed, perhaps, probably, he really hadn't received the news.

And seeing Zhao Fusheng's expression, Fan Baobao's face immediately darkened.

At that moment, Fan Baobao's phone rang again, and this time, her expression turned even worse...
