Chapter 0751: Daily Life
Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0751章 日常
Zhao Fusheng had no idea that, in the eyes of many filmmakers, he was already that fearless screenwriter who dared to challenge the truth, unafraid of the powerful.
Even if he knew, he wouldn't care, because in Zhao Fusheng's mind, the entertainment industry was too chaotic and troublesome, and he certainly didn't want a bunch of people bossing him around.
Leaving the Beijing Film Academy exhibition area, Zhao Fusheng wandered around a bit more until he finally received Fan Baobao's summons.
"Where did you run off to?"
Walking into the Central Academy of Drama exhibition area, Zhao Fusheng saw Fan Baobao looking at him with a coquettish expression.
"Just wandering around, it's quite interesting." Zhao Fusheng smiled and patted Fan Baobao's head. "How about you?"
"Not bad. They're all films made by classmates from our school, quite creative." Fan Baobao said.
Zhao Fusheng nodded but didn't say anything. Although these young people's works were decent, they were still a bit immature. They showed promise, but as for the quality of the films, that went without saying.
Occasionally, there were decent films, but they all had connections and backgrounds behind them.
"Where's Old Jiang?"
Zhao Fusheng looked around curiously and, not seeing Jiang Wen, asked with a smile.
"He has meetings, a ton of things to do." Zhou Yun said irritably. The biggest downside of having such a boyfriend was that Jiang Wen was always too busy; they even had limited time for dates.
Zhao Fusheng chuckled, looking rather smug.
But he knew Zhou Yun was just venting; that was her personality.
"So, shall we keep strolling for a while?" Zhao Fusheng asked Fan Baobao.
Today, his main purpose was to accompany Fan Baobao and help her relax. Lately, he had been neglecting her a bit, spending most of his time either holed up at home or at the advertising company. It was only because Fan Baobao was easygoing; anyone else would have blown up by now.
"No, it's boring. I'd rather go watch a movie."
Fan Baobao shook her head, clearly having lost interest in the place.
"Okay."
Zhao Fusheng nodded, then glanced at Zhou Yun and said after a moment, "If you find it boring, tell Old Jiang. If you don't say anything, he'll probably think you like it here."
The most important thing between people is honesty. Many things go wrong because of assumptions. Projecting your own thoughts onto others often leads to misunderstandings. After all, no one is a mind reader; you can't know what's going on in someone else's head, so mistakes are normal.
It's like if someone likes pears but is allergic to apples. But you insist that eating pears is bad for them and give them your favorite apples instead. It would be strange if that didn't cause problems.
Zhou Yun tilted her head at Zhao Fusheng's words, thought for a moment, and finally nodded, indicating she understood what he meant.
She was also a very smart girl. Zhao Fusheng's words were meant for her and Jiang Wen's benefit, so such advice was worth heeding.
Leaving Zhou Yun and the others at the film festival, Zhao Fusheng and Fan Baobao left the venue.
As they walked, Fan Baobao whispered to Zhao Fusheng, "I saw many people looking for investors with their scripts. Should Future Advertising come here and see if there are any suitable scripts?"
Zhao Fusheng shook his head. "No need. Our company's business in this area is just starting out, so we need to be cautious. The scripts here are probably all amateur works. If we fail, it wouldn't be worth it."
"Oh..." Although her suggestion was rejected, Fan Baobao wasn't upset. She nodded and dropped the subject.
The two happily went to the cinema and watched a horror movie.
That's right, Fan Baobao didn't like comedies. Her favorite was scary horror movies, and she especially loved dragging Zhao Fusheng along to watch them.
Zhao Fusheng was helpless about it. It wasn't that he was scared; he simply didn't like horror movies.
In Zhao Fusheng's view, whether it was Hong Kong/Taiwan or Western horror movies, they essentially just exploited certain psychological aspects of people.
For example, Western horror movies, upon closer analysis, weren't that scary. They were just disgusting and brutal in plot, making them hard to stomach.
As for the so-called horror movies from Hong Kong and Taiwan, forget it. If you removed the soundtrack and background, basically—well, Zhao Fusheng couldn't find the words to describe them because they weren't scary at all.
"Why aren't you scared?" As they left the cinema, Fan Baobao asked Zhao Fusheng helplessly.
Zhao Fusheng smiled. "Why should I be?"
"Because it's scary!" Fan Baobao said matter-of-factly.
Zhao Fusheng shook his head noncommittally. He couldn't explain all the nuances to Fan Baobao; he'd have to wait for her to understand on her own.
"Hungry?"
Checking the time, Zhao Fusheng asked.
"Not really." Fan Baobao shook her head. They had breakfast before leaving in the morning and grabbed a quick bite at the film festival around noon. Now it was almost evening, and she still wasn't hungry—she was something else.
"How about we go to Quanjude?" Zhao Fusheng suddenly thought of a place and said to Fan Baobao.
Come to think of it, they had been in Beijing for a while but had never been to Quanjude, nor had they tasted the legendary Quanjude roast duck that people said you'd regret not eating when in Beijing.
Before, it was because they couldn't afford it; now, it was because they didn't have time.
"That works." Fan Baobao blinked and nodded.
Ever since she learned about Zhao Fusheng's role at Future Advertising, she stopped worrying about him being short on money. Even when he had invested all his funds into that mysterious online game company a while back, Fan Baobao was only angry that he made such a big decision without consulting her, not worried that he wouldn't make money.
That's how it was with advertising creatives—as long as the inspiration was there, they'd never starve.
"Then let's go to Quanjude." Zhao Fusheng said with a smile.
He had only heard people say Beijing roast duck was delicious; in his past life, he had barely eaten it a few times because he was poor. Now, unlike before, he had both time and money.
"Let's call Yunyun." Fan Baobao suggested. In her opinion, Zhou Yun was probably free anyway, and she couldn't go on a date with Jiang Wen.
Zhao Fusheng smiled. "Sure, give her a call."
Everyone needs friends. He had a good impression of Zhou Yun, and given his relationship with Jiang Wen, Zhao Fusheng naturally hoped that Zhou Yun and Fan Baobao's friendship would last. After all, in the entertainment industry, having a true friend wasn't easy.
