Chapter 0869 Breakfast

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0869章 早餐

The next morning, Zhao Fusheng was woken by the alarm clock on the bedside table. Glancing at the woman lying with her back to him, he immediately turned off the alarm, his gaze lingering on her body, wanting to see if she had been disturbed.

The thin bedsheet could not fully conceal the woman's beautiful body; her back, smooth as white brocade, glowed enticingly in the sunlight. Recalling the night before, touching it would bring a wonderfully pleasant sensation, as if stroking silk—soft and delicate. For a moment, Zhao Fusheng's heartbeat seemed to quicken.

He quickly averted his eyes, not looking at the bright red marks he had left on Fan Baobao's collarbone. For some reason, Zhao Fusheng suddenly thought of Fan Baobao from high school.

Back then, she always wore the black high school uniform, her soft black hair falling along her cheeks, her bright, sparkling eyes full of lively smiles. Though her lips were a bit pale, her smile was exceptionally beautiful, especially the curved corners of her mouth, like a crescent moon.

Recalling the past always brings many beautiful moments, which is why we all love to reminisce.

Because people habitually forget painful memories and remember the good things.

After a moment of daze, Zhao Fusheng began to dress. Even though he was at home, he still needed to put on underwear and pajamas. But just as he was half-dressed, he noticed the women's clothes scattered all over the floor. His brow twitched slightly, but then, as if possessed, he started to tidy them up.

No choice—he had to clean up the mess he had made himself. Otherwise, when that sleeping girl woke up, she would surely mock him endlessly.

But then he blinked, and a mischievous smile appeared on his face. He thought he should be a bit more 'diligent.'

All this was done in silence. When Fan Baobao opened her eyes, she looked around blankly, unaware that along with Zhao Fusheng, her clothes had also disappeared.

Her body ached all over, and her heart was a mix of emotions. They say separation makes the heart grow fonder, but the problem was that this guy was simply a madman—who spends most of the night doing that kind of thing? Yet Fan Baobao knew that although Zhao Fusheng never stopped, she herself didn't want him to stop either.

It wasn't their first time together; some things didn't need to be hidden too much.

'But where did that guy go?' Fan Baobao lifted her head and muttered softly.

Recently, because she had been filming on set, Fan Baobao woke up very early every day. Her biological clock had been adjusted with extreme precision, so even after such a 'strenuous' night, she couldn't continue sleeping.

She turned over, the white bedsheet casually wrapped around her. Her neck was covered in hickeys, marks left by Zhao Fusheng that extended to her collarbone, and there was even a faint bite mark.

'You bastard!' Looking down at herself, Fan Baobao gritted her teeth and cursed. Last night, they had started by discussing the script, but as they talked, they moved from the living room to the bedroom. She had said she was tired and needed rest, but that guy insisted on giving her a massage, and then his hands started to wander...

What happened next went without saying—just the usual thing between a man and a woman.

Just as Fan Baobao was recalling the whole process of the night before, the bedroom door suddenly opened. Fan Baobao immediately curled back into the bedsheet, her quick movements making her look like a startled rabbit.

Zhao Fusheng blinked, a smile spreading across his face. He closed the door with his foot. Fan Baobao then noticed that on the tray in his hands were two glasses of milk, toast, and fried eggs. He had made only a simple breakfast.

He casually placed the tray on the bed and sat down on the edge. Instead of moving closer, he slowly spoke: 'I've taken your clothes to wash. Don't go anywhere today—just stay home and rest, okay?'

Fan Baobao blinked and looked at Zhao Fusheng. “But I still have to go to the company.”

“What company? I’ll call Wang Zhonglei,” Zhao Fusheng said irritably.

“No, no, no, I’ll call myself.” Fan Baobao quickly stopped Zhao Fusheng, looking pitiful.

There was no helping it—she was under Wang Jinghua’s management, but Zhao Fusheng’s impression of Wang Jinghua was unusually poor now. Plus, he had a decent relationship with Wang Zhonglei, so if Zhao Fusheng bypassed her to call the company’s vice president, it would only make things difficult for her.

Fan Baobao also knew that Zhao Fusheng didn’t care about Wang Jinghua, but she still didn’t want people to think Zhao Fusheng was overbearing because of her.

Zhao Fusheng frowned, seeing through Fan Baobao’s little thoughts at a glance. But he couldn’t do anything about it—he could dismiss Wang Jinghua, but he couldn’t ignore Fan Baobao’s feelings.

“Alright then, you call yourself,” Zhao Fusheng said helplessly to Fan Baobao.

“Mm.”

Nodding happily in agreement, Fan Baobao pulled Zhao Fusheng to start breakfast.

Breakfast between lovers was naturally filled with an intimate atmosphere. Single dogs witnessing this scene would surely vomit blood and die, but there was no help for it—being single was a disease that needed curing.

After breakfast, Zhao Fusheng cleared the dishes and took them out, while Fan Baobao took out her phone and called the agent in charge of her.

“Sister Zhou, it’s Baobao. Um, I have some personal matters today. Could I come to the company tomorrow?” Fan Baobao said cautiously.

This Sister Zhou was the supervising agent assigned by the company. Although Wang Jinghua had originally signed her, Wang Jinghua was now the deputy general manager of Huayi Brothers Entertainment, with a slew of stars under her. Fan Baobao was just a newcomer, so naturally not everything could be handled by Wang Jinghua herself.

Moreover, Wang Jinghua’s status had changed, and so had her mindset. She no longer needed Zhao Fusheng’s advertising resources as much as before, so her attitude had shifted accordingly.

Thus, Fan Baobao was now just an ordinary young artist at Huayi—about to graduate from college, with a bit of fame, having shot a few commercials and films, and that was it.

Though reluctant to admit it, Fan Baobao had to say that if it weren’t for Zhao Fusheng’s help in introducing her to Jiang Wen and others, she might now be like most of her classmates—anxiously searching for work everywhere, hoping to stay in the capital to develop, and if that failed, considering returning to a TV or radio station in her hometown.

It sounded a bit pitiful, but that was the reality of the entertainment industry today.

Every year, no fewer than eight to ten thousand students graduate from Beijing Film Academy, Central Academy of Drama, Shanghai Theatre Academy, and other film and television schools. Not all of them can become big stars. In fact, even appearing on screen is a luxury for these people. A drama only has so many main roles, a limited number of important supporting roles, and then character actors.

Beyond that, the rest are extras. Unless they were crazy, graduates from professional schools would never stoop to being damned extras.

Thus, the range of roles they could compete for became very narrow.

“Many monks, little gruel; many wolves, little meat”—these two idioms were undoubtedly the most fitting to describe graduates in the entertainment industry. Even after graduation, they faced even fiercer competition, sometimes leading to longtime friends turning into enemies over a single role.

But no one could do anything about it, because that was life.
