Chapter 700: My Heart Is a Glass Heart

The Ultimate System · 第700章 我的心是玻璃心

"Damn it!" Jie was burning with rage, watching Lin Fan leave. "Feng Qingzi, you will regret this."

Jie was somewhat wary of Feng Qingzi. The ancient clan had made an agreement with him—mutual non-interference—but both sides knew it was merely a delaying tactic.

"Senior, you are incredible! Even the Supreme fears you?" the Venerable Shakya said in astonishment.

He had never seen any being stand so firm before the ancient clan's Supreme.

"Of course. Kid, doesn't it feel prestigious to have me as your master?" Feng Qingzi said with a smile, looking at the sullen Lin Fan.

"Old man, don't brag. I was forced into this." Lin Fan felt his luck had been bad lately, nothing but misfortune.

Being outwitted by an old man—what a tragedy.

"Oh? Forced? I never force anyone. Fine, I'll throw you down right now. With Jie's strength, finding you is but a blink." Feng Qingzi made as if to act, as though he really would toss Lin Fan down.

"What are you doing? Old man, keep your hands off me! I'm just being respectful to the elderly, not because I'm afraid of you." Lin Fan couldn't go down; if he did, he'd be dead for sure.

But even so, he couldn't lose face. Seeing the old man's gloating expression, Lin Fan felt annoyed.

"Fine, fine, I'm afraid of you, okay? I won't take you as my disciple now. You can leave anytime; I won't stop you." Feng Qingzi stopped, signaling that Lin Fan could leave whenever he wanted.

Lin Fan looked at the old man, then into the distance. There, Jie still stood, his sinister eyes fixed on them.

Gulp!

Lin Fan couldn't help but feel nervous. If he went down, he'd be dead for sure, but how could he lose face?

"Fine, I'll leave. I fear nothing, not even a Supreme."

"Good, I'll see you off." Feng Qingzi said calmly, with no hint of reluctance.

"I'm really leaving now. Don't change your mind." Lin Fan looked back every few steps, hesitating.

"I never go back on my word." Feng Qingzi stroked his beard.

Lin Fan felt like he'd been played. He wanted to leave but couldn't; if he did, he'd be dead in a second.

The Venerable Shakya watched the scene and sighed helplessly.

A rogue needs a rougher rogue to tame him; ginger is still spicier when old; breasts are still bigger on women.

Of course, that last line needed revision—his own chest was bigger.

"What? Can't bear to leave?" Feng Qingzi smiled faintly at Lin Fan, as if he had him figured out.

"Who said I can't bear to leave? I'm just breathing the air." Lin Fan felt like crying. Why did he have to be so stubborn? Now he had no way to save face.

And this old man didn't play by the rules—how infuriating.

At this moment, the Venerable Shakya felt it was time to step in.

"Benefactor Lin, look how much Senior wishes to take you as his disciple. Countless prodigies would love to be his disciple but can't. Why not give me some face and let this go? Let's leave here first." the Venerable Shakya said.

Hearing this, Lin Fan glanced at the bald monk, realizing he was getting smarter. Leave first, then plan later.

"Fine, I'll give the bald monk some face today." Lin Fan waved his hand, reluctantly giving himself an out.

But what Feng Qingzi said next made Lin Fan indignant.

"I never force anyone. If you don't want to be my disciple, I don't have to save you. I would never make an enemy of the ancient clan's Supreme for a stranger." Suddenly, Feng Qingzi's tone turned serious.

The atmosphere grew tense.

"Senior..." The Venerable Shakya sensed something was different.

Lin Fan dropped his smile, then without hesitation, leaped down from the void.

"Hmph, I, Lin Fan, stand tall and fear no threats. Death is nothing; the ancient clan's Supreme is nothing. Would I grovel to anyone just to survive? Jie, if you've got the guts, fight me. Today, it's either victory or death." Lin Fan was proud by nature. Though he often joked and was cunning, he would never humble himself to save his life.

"This kid..." Feng Qingzi saw his stubbornness and was exasperated.

"Benefactor Lin, what are you doing?" The Venerable Shakya panicked.

The ancient clan's Supreme saw the human emerge from the void and sneered coldly. In an instant, he appeared before Lin Fan.

"Despicable human, who will save you now?" Supreme Jie didn't expect the human to come to his death. Without hesitation, he reached out to grab Lin Fan.

That palm seemed to seize heaven and earth, sealing everything, leaving no escape.

"So strong." Lin Fan was shocked but showed no fear.

"Senior, sigh..." The Venerable Shakya glanced at Feng Qingzi, then sighed and jumped down as well. "Benefactor, I'll help you."

"Bald monk, what are you doing here?" Lin Fan was deeply moved that the monk would risk death to join him.

"Benefactor, you face death without fear to fight the ancient clan's Supreme. Am I a coward?" the Venerable Shakya said.

"Haha, good! Today, let's see the true strength of the ancient clan's Supreme."

...

Feng Qingzi watched the two, furrowed his brow, and his white beard fluttered with anger.

"Stubborn brat, truly stubborn. I've roamed through the ages, never bowing to anyone. But fine, the more I see you, the more I like you. If you don't amount to anything later, I'll slap you to death."

Feng Qingzi didn't hesitate. Though Jie wasn't the strongest among the ancient clan's Supremes, he was still more than these two could handle.

Lin Fan saw the descending palm and trembled. The overwhelming power was unstoppable; one strike would crush them.

Boom!

In an instant, Feng Qingzi appeared before Lin Fan, flicked his sleeve, and dispersed the palm's force.

"Jie, what do you think you're doing?" Feng Qingzi roared. "My disciple came down to take a piss, and you dare attack? Do you think I wouldn't kill you?"

"Feng Qingzi, just you wait." Jie said coldly, then shot a hateful glance at Lin Fan and left completely.

"Old man, who asked you to save me?" Lin Fan breathed a sigh of relief—finally, he wouldn't die.

"Kid, I surrender. I apologize." Feng Qingzi sighed. This kid was too stubborn; even he hadn't been this stubborn in his youth.

It was a miracle he was still alive.

Lin Fan looked at Feng Qingzi, wondering if the old man had lost his mind to be so good to him. But the heart is made of flesh; having such a protective master wasn't bad.

"Fine, you're getting old. I'm afraid more刺激 might give you a heart attack. Since you're begging me to be your disciple, I'll reluctantly agree."

"Disciple Lin Fan pays respects to Master."

"Haha... good, good." Feng Qingzi laughed heartily, as if relieved.

"Disciple, your master's storage ring..."

"What? Storage ring? Gone. You seriously hurt your disciple's heart just now. My heart is a glass heart—shatters at a touch. To make up for it, you must give me that storage ring to soothe me, or I might die of heartbreak." Once something was in his hands, he'd never give it back.

"I..." Feng Qingzi clutched his chest, as if he couldn't catch his breath.

In all the world, where could you find such a shameless disciple?
