Chapter 0083: Refusal

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0083章 拒绝

"I heard you're an advertising major. I believe you should understand the status of Perfect Advertising."

Wang Meiyu looked smug. In her view, this task of hers should end quite easily. After all, for a sophomore who hadn't even graduated from university yet, the temptation of joining Perfect Advertising was irresistible.

"So this counts as being poached?"

Zhao Fusheng smiled and said to Wang Meiyu.

Wang Meiyu smiled: "I see it more as offering you a different choice in life. After all, between Future Advertising and Perfect Advertising, you should know which one suits you better. People in advertising need a stage to showcase their talent, and you should know which stage is better."

Clearly, Wang Meiyu was very confident. In her view, as long as Zhao Fusheng wasn't an idiot, he should know how to choose.

To be fair, after doing some research on Zhao Fusheng, Wang Meiyu felt she knew him fairly well. His family background was average—nothing special. His father was laid off, and his mother worked as a nurse in a hospital. He had risen to prominence as a new advertising strategist by helping Zheng Yao create the ad campaign for Runshengyuan Qingzui Lozenges. Perfect Advertising's stance was that they had to recruit a newcomer like him, because in this day and age, the most important thing in advertising wasn't experience but innovation.

But unfortunately, she didn't know that the guy in front of her was an even savvier old hand than herself, not someone easily swayed by a few casual words.

Zhao Fusheng naturally understood what headhunting was about. Compared to a newcomer who would be dazzled by such a situation, Zhao Fusheng's greatest advantage was that he could face it calmly.

"Miss Wang, I think you've misunderstood something." Zhao Fusheng glanced at Wang Meiyu: "You're trying to poach me now, not painting me a rosy picture. Choosing which platform is my freedom, not your right."

Wang Meiyu was taken aback. She never expected Zhao Fusheng to be so direct.

"Sorry, my words might be a bit blunt, but it's really for your own good." Composing herself, Wang Meiyu looked seriously at Zhao Fusheng: "To be honest, the moment I saw you, I felt a connection. I was really happy."

"Happy?"

Zhao Fusheng raised an eyebrow and smiled: "How happy?"

"Huh?" Wang Meiyu was instantly dumbfounded, her face blank. She had no idea what Zhao Fusheng meant by that. Why wasn't this guy playing by the rules?

And what did 'how happy' even mean? Was that the point?

"Miss Wang, I think you've misunderstood something." Zhao Fusheng looked at Wang Meiyu and said calmly: "I'm still a student now; my duty is to study. Doing my part as a student is more important than anything else. Other things will only waste my energy and time. The first ad idea you saw won't be my last."

At this point, the conversation seemed to hit a deadlock, as both Zhao Fusheng and Wang Meiyu had sensed each other's stance.

"In that case, let's talk again when we have a chance. There's plenty of time." Wang Meiyu smiled, not discouraged. "Could I leave your phone number?"

Zhao Fusheng frowned slightly, then nodded and gave his pager number, shrugging: "I'm still a student and can't afford a cell phone. Hope you don't mind, Miss Wang."

Wang Meiyu was startled but said nothing, jotting down Zhao Fusheng's number.

Just as she was about to hand him her business card, Zhao Fusheng turned and went straight upstairs.

Her face immediately darkened. Wang Meiyu glared hatefully at Zhao Fusheng's back. If the commission for this poaching weren't so high, she would have turned and left.

Biting her lip hard, she glared at this eccentric, ungentlemanly boy. Wang Meiyu thought, no wonder this guy didn't have a girlfriend at school—with such a weird temper, even a goddess couldn't stand him.

Zhao Fusheng, of course, had no idea what Wang Meiyu was thinking. If he did, he'd probably just smile calmly and ask, "What's it to you?"

To him, whether Wang Meiyu was pretty or ugly, she was just a stranger.

As for the poaching, well, if Zhao Fusheng weren't in partnership with Zheng Yao, he might have seriously considered it. But with a fifty percent stake in Future Advertising, he'd have to be crazy to give up his own business and work for someone else.

Having been a wage earner for ten years in his previous life, Zhao Fusheng was long tired of being bossed around and ordered about.

Those in a hurry can't see the nails on the ground; those who worry can't enjoy happy days. Zhao Fusheng wasn't in a rush now; he had plenty of time and opportunities to create his own glory.

As soon as he returned to the dorm, Zheng Yao called. Clearly, she had been waiting for news from Zhao Fusheng.

"So, did you meet that woman?" By now, Zheng Yao had taken to calling Wang Meiyu 'that woman,' even though yesterday when they met, they had acted like close sisters.

As they say, women can change their faces faster than turning a page.

"I did." Zhao Fusheng said, both amused and exasperated. Now she was anxious, but when he had mentioned it yesterday, Zheng Yao hadn't been like this.

"What did she say?" Zheng Yao asked eagerly.

"What could she say? Just the usual poaching spiel." Zhao Fusheng said flatly, turning on the computer. "She came on behalf of Perfect Advertising. She didn't mention terms, but the goal was to poach me to Perfect Advertising."

"Huh?" Zheng Yao was taken aback at first, then laughed: "Oh, is that so? Then let her try all she wants. I've got things to do, gotta go."

With that, she hung up without giving Zhao Fusheng a chance to speak.

She wasn't stupid. Poaching Zhao Fusheng? That would never succeed.

Holding the receiver, Zhao Fusheng shook his head helplessly. That was Zheng Yao's personality—sometimes she seemed rational, but most of the time she was impulsive. He hoped she wouldn't be like that in business.

Otherwise, she'd have a hard time ahead.

"Hmm, the traffic is getting higher." Looking at the computer, Zhao Fusheng was surprised to find that the traffic on the wo123 website had increased again. It seemed the promotion at the computer mall was going well.

"Still not enough." Zhao Fusheng blinked. Although wo123's traffic wasn't low, he was sure that most of it came from netizens in Ninghai. In other words, it was still confined to one city.

To truly develop the site, it needed to be promoted outside.

"What to do?" Zhao Fusheng rubbed his chin, a bit worried.
